Marriage?

This is a topic I've been thinking about for quite awhile especially in the 'poke' scene. After years of playing the card game with people, I've slowly realized that while playing the game I've never really had a chance to sit down and actually discuss something important with most of my fellow players. And honestly, I'm not quite sure where some players stand on the issue. What are your views on *** marriage, are you for or against it? And why?

I for one believe that everyone deserves equality, this is something I thought we understood after MLK, but I guess not..

mmm bad idea posting a political topic here. seems like this site is about 70/30 conservative to liberal so you prolly wont get the answer youre looking for here ;)

With the censored 3 letter word before marriage, I'm guessing you mean homosexual?

I don't care. Anyone can marry anyone they want, I don't care. And no offense, but what does this have to do with the "Poke scene"?

Oh you 're talking about same gender marriages. I dont think its right but they should have a choice.

Each to their own.
It's perfectly fine for someone to love someone of the same gender as them, and marriage is also perfectly fine.
Love is love, doesn't matter who it's between.

Honestly I think if it doesn't even affect you, why would you try to stop it? Just let other people live their lives, it's just kinda meen to do that when it won't change your lifestyle at all

Before the likeliness of this thread getting closed by the moderators I would just like to add my 2 cents in the mix. Marriage will be one of the largest of factors and decisions that you will either have to ask or answer in your life if presented. Many have the tendency to forget it seems that marriage is not just between two people but rather two families more or less. It is somewhat silly that we are still persuaded to base and write our laws on outdated religious belief nonetheless prejudice and unswerving philosophy still has a strong grip on society. Please remember the consequences of who or when you marry. Marriage isn't a 'fling' it isn't a 'date' it isn't a 'friendship' its a contract plain and simple and you better be sure that you're signing it with the right person.

Personally, I belive that if 2 men wish to be married, them let them, I'm just not for them having the ability to adopt, and for one rreason: the unfortunate child will be ridiculed beyond imagination because his/her parents are ***, and bullying because of something that isn't preventable is bad enough, but ridiculing them for something that CAN be prevented just doesn't sit too well with me. People need to stop being so homophobic, if you have a prefernce towards women and your a guy and vice/versa then you should have no problem bieng around a person who is homsexual. I'd hang out with *** people and have no problem about because I know where I stand as far as my sexuality is concerned.

Kids with overweight parents get bullied. Think we should stop overweight people having kids?

This point is taken well into account; where does prejudice end and acceptance begin? We can not live in a world where we all see eye to eye. In my honest opinion the only people we aught to stop are those that attempt to deliver deliberate harm to our persons or property and seeing that the adoption of children by homosexual couples are in my opinion actually safer than by heterosexual couples, since the former will be under constant scrutiny/watch more or less due to the likely prejudice of the community. Everyone please take in to account the concept of same-gender relations is a fairly new concept on the large scale of things 50 yrs or so ago we'd all be grabbing our pitch-forks and firearms; sad and funny as it may seem today. We need about two generations to die away before same-sex relations of marriage and adoption are accepted by the majority as 'normal'

Kids with poor parents too!

Poor people- no more breeding!

We have no right to amend constitutions to make discriminatory laws. We have no right to discriminate, period, and any move to make same gender marriages illegal is entirely immoral, discriminatory, and unconstitutional. It's sad that we have states amending their constitutions to discriminate. It's sad that we have a huge population choosing to deny a group of people rights based on something so arbitrary as their sexual orientation.

I think it will take quite some time for some real equality. A few generations have to die out.

As Peter once said on Family guy:

"What's the big deal? If ***s want to get married and be miserable like the rest of us, who cares."

umm...i don't think the mods will like this...

but i think that homosexuality is OK, as long as it isn't right up in my face. i have homosexual neighbors, and there the nicest people ever (unless we hit there care w/ a baseball...)

I PERSONALLY don't agree with homosexual relationships/marriage.
But as humans we get to make our own choices.

By the way if my opponent at a tournament asked me something like that I'd be like " What the **** dude? I'm here to play pokemon,"

That's pretty hilarious

I think civil unions are more than acceptable. They essentially have the same rights, but the word marriage is reserved for heterosexual couples. That way, homosexuals can have the same benefits as heterosexual couples, and we preserve the tradition of marriage.

Either way, it should be a state's decision, not the feds.

:lightning

How so? Because the topic has something to do with homosexuality?

If I were a mod, I'd be very offended to find out people thought that.

I think because of the chances this thread is going to degenerate into a flame war.

One example of something uninformed and misunderstood already said in this thread: Tina, your sexual orientation is not a choice. Who you are attracted to is not something you can decide.

I fully support everyone's right to be married, and I hope the close-minded comments don't cause this to become the potential bonfire it is.

Wow, at first I assumed Tina was saying that we, as humans, all have the choice to do whatever we want, and that we shouldn't discriminate.

Now I understand that she was kind of generalizing sexual orientation as a cognitive choice comparable to conscious choices like what kind of cereal to buy.

That is some crazy stuff. It's interesting what kind of different interpretations one can get from short, vague statements.
