Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

MD Empoleon

lol, people say the second attack is it's downfall, when it works perfectly with gyarados... the writer of the card obviously was thinking that. Also, sand veil will soon not even be playable in august, so people are thinking ahead.

But, We will still have to worry about Bastidon MT, which does the same thing. OH WELL, there are OTHER ways around that!

Reread the card. DRE reduces the attack by 10, which includes bench damage, even to self.

DRE said:
Double Rainbow Energy can be attached only to an Evolved Pokemon (excluding Pokemon-ex). While in play, Double Rainbow Energy provides every type of Energy but provides 2 Energy at a time. (Has no effect other than providing Energy.) Damage done to your opponent's Pokemon by the Pokemon Double Rainbow Energy is attached to is reduced by 10 (before applying Weakness and Resistance). When the Pokemon Double Rainbow Energy is attached to is no longer an Evolved Pokemon, discard Double Rainbow Energy.

Game, set. DRE doesn't drop the damage done to your own Pokemon.

I actually have nothing to offer, but other than the Gyarados suggestion, there hasn't really been any thoughts of how this card could be used. This card could totally own =P

I REALLY think Empoleon/Glacion is going to be an AWESOME combo!!! If I can get it to Work just right, I think it will be Very effective for me at Battle Roads and Nats, either way I am running Empo/?!!!!

...The comparison of Empoleon to Exeggutor d is indeed quite right. It's got Exeggutor's attacks... But with more HP, AND in the right order too... And to top things off, it can deal more damage with the straight damage attack, and is super effective against a fairly popular card. IIRC, Exeggutor wasn't super-effective against... Much of ANYTHING besides Holon's Castform.

Now, why was RaiEggs successful? Answer that question, and I think you'll find a way to make Empoleon successful. It's that kind of logic that made Magmortar pretty solid during cities (Remember Blaziken EX...?). :/

Speed and disruption. It countered the vast majority of the format for a very long time. For RaiEggs, the speed part was easy, as everything was stage 1. The countering part was also easy, as Raichu hit everything with a Power or Body. Disruption only truly came later, and made the deck SO much better than it was to begin with. Spread damage, LOTS of spread damage.

Empoleon can do all of that within a single evolution line. 4-4-3-1 Empoleon, using the DP1 lower stages, gives so much spread that it's crazy. Add to that Cessation and draw power, and the deck looks like a LOAD of fun. I'd still like to add in a 2-2 Gyarados for the big damage attacks, and a 3-3 of some powerful stage 1 with a high HP basic form. But that'll take some effort, and I don't really wanna go into that...

Steelix ex
Absol ex
Jolteon ex
Holon's Castform
...others

It gave R-Gon and Delta a chance to beat fighting-weak decks really well. Doing 60/30 is ridiculous for 3 energy on a stage 1 back then. That's around 90 net damage for 3=30/1=golden. And the direct attack made short work of almost anything fighting weak.

I love how so many people put this card down in this thread yet Empo MD is one of the top 3 decks at the moment.
