Lots of things to point out here. First, how in the HECK is the PSP generating sales? 5 titles in the top 50, and only 1 in the top 10! How is this thing competing with the NDS to this level? Gotta be something barely legal to keep that thing afloat. How easy is it to mod a PSP?

Yes, the DS sold less than 100k. Remember that the DS was probably the first system to sell over 100k consistently for over a year. Sales have GOT to dip at some point. I don't expect the NDS to continue its insane 100k/week pace that it's been maintaining over the last 2 years. If it kept to about 75k/week for most of the year, that should be considered a VERY good year from this system. It will push it into the 25 million LTD range, unheard of from any gaming system. Just let the ride continue...

I'm actually surprised by this strong Wii showing. I thought that sales would taper to the 30-35k range it was maintaining for the 2 months before December. I wonder if the system is still supply constrained. I doubt it. Still, it's got good software support, getting 11 titles in the top 50, 4 of them in the top 10. I think that the Wii will maintain ~50k/week for the year, based on software sales alone.

I'm also surprised by the relatively strong week by the PS3. It only dropped by about a half while the systems ahead of it dropped by significantly more. It has less games than its older cousin in the top 50, yet it's still selling remarkably well over there, especially given its VERY cool reception last year. Still, you can't ignore the lack of software sales for this system. I'd place it at about 25-30k/week for the year.

FF4 is still up there. I'm surprised. Isn't this the 4th or 5th release of this game? It should crack the million seller list by the time this is all said and done.

Wii Sports. It's really a non-game. It was packaged with the Wii for the American release. And it's selling like hotcakes over there. I don't think there has ever been a game for any system that has sold quite like this one. Approximately one in two Wii owners also bought Wii Sports. There hasn't been any game to sell quite like that.

Is that Mario Kart DS gracing the top 10 again? Geez, Nintendo is just PRINTING money at this point! It seems like every Nintendo item made is a Nintendo item sold. This is the most remarkable company turnaround I've ever seen, save maybe Apple with its Ipod. Still, to go from worst to first in one category, and break every single record (creating a few of its own) in another, that's nothing short of insanity. It shows you how much the Japanese love their in-house products.

I too wonder how the PSP is reporting sales...but then again, are those actual sales? I remember hearing a while back that Sony likes to report how much product they move rather than actual sales, but that was a while ago.

MHP2 just sort of came out of no where. It's actually amazing that the Wii is getting MH3 instead of the PSP. Afterall, the Monster Hunter franchise is about the only thing that sells on the PSP.

But, still. Where are the PSP sales coming from? It can't just be from hackers, there aren't enough to sustain this level of sales for this long.

Also, when does NPD data come out? I'd like to see how strong of a December Nintendo had overall...

I think that Haruhi has been licensed. Hopefully it's not butchered. If not, then there is an above average chance that the game makes it over here.

Huh, when did "Wii Fit" come out? Have I been under a rock or what? (don't answer that  )

I'm guessing it must already be out in Japan, but this is the first I've heard of it actually being released anywhere.

Hmmm,

Been out in Japan I think since November. Remember that MC is Japanese data. It's also the most accurate data that we've got on video game sales from any country in the world.

Chris is right. The Haruhi game is a visual novel, and since there's practically no market for the game, they probably won't release it stateside, no matter how well the anime sold.
