Mewtwo LV.X?

With all the SP decks running around, do we need to start teching in Mewtwo LV.X's into our decks? Do most SP decks run Mewtwo counters?

Discuss.

If there is another Mewtwo Lv X counter for basic only decks other than Dialga G Lv X, I don't know what it is, and no, all SP decks do not run Dialga G. I saw lots of decks at BR that if a Mewtwo Lv X came up, they would have to just concede. Still, you could easily go through 6 rounds without seeing one, so....

Even Dialga G LV X won't stop a Mewtwo if it is teched into Flygon. I know people say it makes the deck 'clunky', but it's worth it to get such a good match up vs SP decks.

IMO, it's more a case of what SP decks are going to do to counter Mewtwo. There are a few things that work.

Wow, this thread actually reminded me that Mewtwo lv X exists, and it's brilliant against non-Dialga SPs! Thanks, OP!

(this is NOT sarcasm, btw)

You're welcome.

Well, it's good to know that most SP decks aren't running Mewtwo counters right now. I might just have to tech it into my deck.

Keep the opinions coming.

Other than Mewtwo lvlX counter and have small stage 1 line-up, The SP pokemon that can put damage counnters on Mewtwo LvlX are skuntank G (poison structure poke-power); crobat g (flashbite poke power); areodactyl gl primal breath attack (preventing to level up and since you can only level up in the active spot)

I don't know if I missed anything

Honchkrow G is pretty neat. I got one early in game I recently had (not tournament). I also had Ambipom. I was able to use Ambipom to move the energy off of my opponent's active Pokemon. He was having trouble drawing energy and I then used Honchkrow to pick off his bench one at a time, including Palkia. (He did make the mistake of trying to power up Palkia with the few energy he drew while he was on the bench instead of using an energy to retreat his active Pokemon).

MewTwo is dead space whenever you're NOT playing against an SP deck though.
Really slows you down to have an Energy Absorption start :/

But SP deck are not so hard to be defeated... even Gengar can kill them alone

well.. honchkrow G and Infernape E4 both attack the bench, and with the help of poketurns and crobats mewtwo is easily gotten around. IMO that is.

Okay, cool. Now we can tech in Bastiodon MT so our benches can't be sniped, and our benched LV.X's are safe from Flygon to boot.

Now what can they do?

Ok...Mewtwo is good tech...but being a luxray/infernape 4 player...I have a huge advantage. I can just bring the mewtwo up with luxray on the turn you play it...and ruin you by way of trash bolt and bats. Or I could bring it up and free retreat with luxray....then swing on him for 100 with ape X. Then...if all that fails...i'll just keep swinging on your bench due to intimidating roar. I have lots of answers for that guy.

Depens on th deck but a smart mewtwo player who has a mesprit / power spray in his deck isnt really bothered by that.
Just drop the Mewtwo and lock powers 4 that one turn, then just let your bench die an sweep away

Good SP players are going to run a counter to the card that gives them an automatic loss. Dialga G lv. X is the most popular, but there are a number of other common evolution techs that particular SP decks can/have run, such as Banette PT in anything running Psychic energy, and Ninetales MT in Infernape 4. Both of those are able to OHKO Mewtwo for 2 energy.
