Mid-Rotation announced. Now banning B&W at Nats makes sense?

The announcement of the mid-rotation since 1st July doesn't affect Europe (as our Nationals are held before) but tells us two things:

1) The Modified MD-on format with BW rules is judged by P!P as unplayable.
2) It is overtly written that some tournament in Europe may have a different format

Given these two assumptions, wouldn't be good if ALL European TO's will make the choice to ban B&W cards/rules at their National championship?

This tournament will give out money/trip/invites to Worlds. In the last weeks there were a lot of rumors about how B&W will have an impact on the game, but now we have an official announcement which confirm that the impact will be really bad.

Discuss!

Totaly agree with that! I wrote this morning to the swiss op manager an email asking to rethink the format that was deceided to be md-bw

Ah, are you sure this mid-season rotation won't affect European Nationals?
I know they said July 1st but nobody knows the format for other Nationals as of yet.

Mods: Don't lock as a duplicate as this topic discussed the European aspects of the issue.

I know one other country is at least likely using an MD-CL format. It makes sense to go with it; then with no BW rules Sableye isn't such a problem and we have a better Nationals. To rotate half a player's collection just before one of the biggest tournaments (for some, the biggest) of the year would seem a bad decision - newer players who were getting hold of cards would certainly be put out by this. I understand P!P wishes to solve the problematic issue but there are holes in a mid-season rotation. Even Worlds will be, to some extent, a tournament full of rogues if this does go through. Yes, people will develop strategies and decks over the summer but how do they know if what they're using/constructing isn't a load of tosh? Those people will become incredibly infuriated if they make a HGSS on deck for Worlds only to find their, say, energy counts were too low or some other reason and they ended up with a bad Worlds record (for those flying out to the Grinder especially I feel sorry for, they not only face this but also single-elimination rounds!).

Yes, every plausible solution has it's pros and cons but it's a case of weighing them up then choosing he lesser evil. Do you rotate early and lose a load of newer players who feel their money is wasted or do you hold off on a new set of rules/errata a card and keep a fast format which, while it has it's own problems (donks, fast decks maybe) gives players warning about a looming rotaion and enough time so they have a chance to acquire useful cards post rotation?

To think a lot of this uproar came from just one card...

For me using MD-CL would be a repeat of the CC-States period but
MD-BW with gameplay is also a big NO for Nationals. (perhaps it makes a difference to use best of 3????, but not sure about that)

Don't know who is supposed to make a decission about this, after calling our LD they even didn't know anything about the new rules (B&W).
