Genius Sonority still has yet to top Pokémon Stadium. They can't even beat an N64 game two generations later.
HAL either really knew what they were doing, or Genius Sonority flat-up sucks.
Hasn't every review of this game said it's mediocre? I think that if you want to make a Pokemon game that's more about the fighting, you should make one like Fire Emblem and Advance Wars, with Pokemon and trainers walking around on a grid map and Pokemon attacking as in the standard game. Presumably the trainers would use items on the Pokemon and possibly have some other powers. You could recruit classic trainers like Brock and Misty as well as Pokemon.

When Pokemon Stadium was originally coming out, I was hoping that, for some Unown biggrin reason, it would be a real-time battling game. Something like the gameplay style of Starfox 64, or the anime, where your attacks were set to buttons or something. In retrospect, given the technology of the time, this might have been unreasonable, but damn cool.Pokemon REALLY isn't suited to a Fire Emblem style of gameplay.
Hence why Mystery Dungeon was a terrible idea.
I could see the [South] Korean headlines now...Blizzard and Nintendo need to team up to make Pokécraft.
Nintendo will not have an online system like xBox live because their target is families and a main concern is safety. They don't want 8 year old logging on and playing with strangers.
