Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

MSNBC article disappointed by Pokemon Battle Revolution

While I liked the battles, and the way the NEW Pokemon look in this game, the only gripe I have about PBR is the fact that it gets boring after a while. IMO, it's decent at best, but it's not Nintendo/Genius Sonority's masterpiece, but it's worth it if you want to battle on Wi-Fi with the Wii, otherwise, stick to DP.

IMO this is something that is nice at first but after a few hours it looks like it gets boring. The last great must buy game like this is Pokemon Staduim 2. It had more than this. I liked the whole part where you go challenge the gym leaders and then the Elite Four. Also the four staduims. And also the Mini-games. There was just so much to do and this game looks like after you do a battle I would probably take this game out and put in something more fun and entertaining like Wii Sports or Wario Ware.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

Genius Sonority still has yet to top Pokémon Stadium. They can't even beat an N64 game two generations later.

HAL either really knew what they were doing, or Genius Sonority flat-up sucks.

We actually agree on something.

Hasn't every review of this game said it's mediocre? I think that if you want to make a Pokemon game that's more about the fighting, you should make one like Fire Emblem and Advance Wars, with Pokemon and trainers walking around on a grid map and Pokemon attacking as in the standard game. Presumably the trainers would use items on the Pokemon and possibly have some other powers. You could recruit classic trainers like Brock and Misty as well as Pokemon.

Seconding, that's pretty much Mystery Dungeon.

Pokemon REALLY isn't suited to a Fire Emblem style of gameplay.
Hence why Mystery Dungeon was a terrible idea.

When Pokemon Stadium was originally coming out, I was hoping that, for some Unown :)biggrin:) reason, it would be a real-time battling game. Something like the gameplay style of Starfox 64, or the anime, where your attacks were set to buttons or something. In retrospect, given the technology of the time, this might have been unreasonable, but damn cool.

I like the speaker in this game better than the Stadium games. That guy was so annoying and I usually turned the voice off since he always repeated himself! Look on the bright side, PBR is nowhere as bad as Hey, You Pikachu!

SLAMMED 'EM -I like when the announcer says that

Nintendo will not have an online system like xBox live because their target is families and a main concern is safety. They don't want 8 year old logging on and playing with strangers.

They already do online except they use friend codes. Friend codes are a good idea to protect kids from playing with people they don't know, but is also a bad idea for gamers because we just want to play with anyone who is available.
