Hello all, this is Treach back from the dead again when it comes to the Pokemon TCG. I tried to jump back into the game when World's qualifiers were being held "in my area", but I couldn't find a way to make the hour/hour and a half long drive to where the Q was being held, so I was sadly left out.
But I've been looking over the cards again recently, and I noticed they brought back Blastoise in the form of Blastoise EX, so I decided to try my hand at whipping up a decklist. Suggestions would be appreciated.
BLAST.dec:
Pokemon (21):
4x Dunsparce
4x Squirtle
1x Wartortle
3x Blastoise EX
3x Feebas
2x Milotic
2x Wooper
2x Team Aqua's Walrein
Trainers (21):
4x Pokemon Reversal
4x Steven's Advice
3x Rare Candy
3x Celio's Network
3x Professor Oak's Research
3x Archie
1x Copycat
Energy (18):
18x Water Energy
---
The idea behind the deck is fairly straightforward. Get out a Blastoise EX and Wooper on the bench, and use TA's Walrein as the heavy hitter (Energy Rain to Wooper, Hydro Reverse).
My main questions regarding the deck are A.) whether or not to use 2/1/2 Pidgeot line over the 3/2 Feebas/Milotic line and B.) If my trainer selection is good for the current metagame (which I know all of jack and squat about). The biggest question re: Trainers is Pokemon Reversal, which I've donated a full four slots to in order to help deal with Zapdos EX. I don't know if there are better options out there for that which I am not aware of.
I haven't gotten the chance to play this deck yet, so all of this is just theory...however, since I've been playing the game since it first came out (admittedly off-and-on in the past 3 years) I feel that I've got a pretty good grasp of how the deck should perform...as it isn't necessarily very tricky, outside of figuring out ideal benches/Dunsparce S&R's/opening hands. Most of my confusion regarding the deck just has to do with the metagame, as I had mentioned before.
Anyway, like I said, any suggestions would be appreciated.
