My Little Ponies - Keldeo Blastoise for Cities

I've been testing this too, and I was wondering if it would be prudent to play 4 Skyla in order to maximise chances of getting the T2 Blastoise?

So I only lost one game yesterday and placed 4th. Lost the first game due to supporter drought. I went with Kyurem as a sigilyph counter. It also held its own against the one Shaymin I faced. I'm thinking of cutting one Squirtle for a second Kyurem.

Stuart; Your list is very close to mine. A mere tweak of card counts mostly. Have you play tested your list yet?

PidgyCorner; with such a tight list where would you fit more Skyla?

Ogremarauder; sigilyph was played in quite a few different decks.

Herp; one Super Rod worked well. Granted, I hit more heads than tails with Super Scoop Up. And relying on it(ssu) mid to late game would be a failing. But I always seemed to have an Energy Retrieval when I needed it. Which was just as good, in practice, as trying to Super Rod and then Cilan in the same turn.

I'll try to post another deck soon, but please feel free to keep discussing this one.

I have to say, this deck has been very underplayed in my area. Not a single master has played this in the two CCs I've attended. That being said; We've tested Computer and Gold Potion extensively and found the magical elixer to be the superior option. Without the recursion of Sableye, Computer search isn't quite as powerful as it could be. In this deck, Skyla will give you access to just about anything you could want. Without discarding(besides Ultra Ball). And I know everyone's list is drum-tight; but a single Energy Search then gives Skyla access to literally every card except for Double Colorless. Though at most times you can find at least 1 energy in your discard.Making Retrieval better to use. I've actually found myself in situations where I've manually retreated a Keldeo just to retrieve the energy for another one.

This deck has 9 basics and mine has 10, quite often I do not get a basic at the start of the game and have to shuffle my hand into my deck. Does anyone else have this problem?

Hello Stumple!

To answer your question; we have only to turn to other popular decks at the moment.

Tornadus/ Mewtwo /fill in the blank(usually Terrakion or Boufalant) Runs 10 basics

2-4 Tornadus ex
2-3 Landorus ex
3 Mewtwo ex
2-3 some combo of meta specific techs

Hammertime (Darkrai, Sableye,+ sometimes techs) runs 9-10 basics
4x Darkrai
3-4x Sableye
2-3x Meta specific techs (sometimes.some run no supporting cast)

Ray eels (eelectrik and rayquaza) Runs roughly 11 basics

3 Rayquaza ex
2 Rayquaza
3-4 tynamo
Raikou ex
2-3 others (Zekroms,Tornadus ex, ...)

Darkrai /Hydreigon runs 10-11 basics

3 Darkrai ex
2-3 Sableye
3 Deino
Shaymin ex
Mewtwo ex
Sometimes another meta specific tech.

There are others, but these are the decks that trend popular in most areas. The only one I can think of that doesn't (almost ever) Mulligan would be Empoleon. Due to it's nature and reliance on a full bench, it runs a VERY high basic count. Like 12-15. So, in comparison to other stuff, 9-10 isn't that low. Mulligans happen.

As for the Gold Potion instead of Computer Search; I'll try it. Never tested it but it seems like you play it pretty much as a fourth Super Scoop Up.

-3 Cheren (Tropical Beach)
-2 DCE (Useless, T2 Secret Sword is likely enough)
-1 Wartortle (you´ll evolve with RC, the ability saves you from snipe)
-1 Retrieval (overkill, you don´t want that on your opening hand)
-1 Cilan (overkill, you don´t want that on your opening hand)

+2 Skyla (RC; CS; TB; ANYTHING)
+1 N (standard)
+2 Tropical Beach (sooo good in this deck, try to get those)
+1 Ultra Ball (consistency)
+1 SSU (Max Potion, Switch, Shaymin UL in one card... Ole Stognief)
+1 Water (you need them whenever you can get them)

Then you could overthink you techs. Is Mewtwo really needed / is Mewtwo/Eel popular in your area?
Many Germans use Bouffalant instead of Kyurems and Mewtwos and it seems to be successful.

After playtesting the matchup against Landorus/Mewtwo deck, I feel that you need to run at least 2 Mewtwos to win the Mewtwo war. Even though the deck generally runs 3, your running 2 and you have super rod to count on.
