Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Naruto main VA cast announced: OFFICIAL VIZ LIST OUT.

Well, they've made some good choices and bad ones for Naruto this time.

Though everyone thinks Johnny Young Bosch is a bad choice for Naruto, no one had watched his performance in Last Exile capture hearts. Everyone thinks of his botched role as Vash in Trigun, but I think he will do a good job.

Sasuke's part belongs to Mark Hildreth, otherwise known as Heero from Gundam Wing, which is actually the best choice for the job. Sasuke's voice is naturally deep and serious for his age, and Mark will do an excellent job portraying that, hopefully his playful side too.

Stephen Blum gets the Kakashi role, as we already know, another of the best case scenarios. It was either him or Crispin Freeman, but I can see him in other future roles, maybe even Jirayah. Kakashi has the same cool-factor as Spike did in Cowboy Bebop, and his other roles will help contribute to this one.

Colleen O'Shaughnessey takes both the roles of Konohamaru and Ino. Personally I think they should keep Konohamaru as the loveable Pikachu we all know, but I suppose Colleen can do it. For those of you who don't know, she played Sora in the first two seasons of Digimon. I found she did a rather good job of the role, even though she was a secondary player. This could turn out ok.

The other two on the list are ones I'm not so thrilled about.

Sakura's voice get's taken up by Rachel Lillis, sadly. Now don't get me wrong, I love Misty and Jessie, but I'm sorry, she can't do well as Sakura. There's no way. I'm also kind of tired of hearing her everywhere.

Another one on the list is Gaara. I know people have actually been making fun of this paring, but they actually worked up the nerve to put Eric Stuart as Gaara. I know he has a wide voice range, and is a good VA, but the voice of Brock, James, and Seto Kaiba does not belong in the mouth of Gaara. I believe this is a mistake.

I suppose that means Ash and May will also make their appearances too, most likely as someone like Shikamaru or something like that, or hopefully something short, like Inari in the Country of the Wave saga. I can only hope.

Any input from those fans of Pokemon and Naruto before me?

my...god...they actually did give gaara the voice actor of kaiba.
Next thing you know he's going to be carrying a breifcase around.
I didn't know kaiba, brock, and james were all the same voice actor though.

I can't really even picture Misty's voice coming out of Sakura, but it seems pretty scary.

I really don't like the aspect of girls voice acting for boy characters(and vice versa, but I dont think vice versa happens as much), so I'm not thrilled about the konohomaru thing. Though, konohamaru has small parts, so that's good. I do however think the voice of Sora works well with Ino.

And...I don't know about Kakashi, Naruto, and Sasuke, I've never heard those three voice actors before.

Well that certainly tells you something if you didn't know Stuart voiced all those guys, huh?

As for females voicing males, that is usually done for boy characters to keep the male's voice from changing mid show if the actor grows up--and of course the character doesn't.

That's just my input there--when's this show starting?

Well two more to add to the list, and they're screwups in my opinion.

Hinata is going to be played by Stephanie Sheh, a relatively new actress who has only done little bits in Zatch Bell and Rave Master.

3rd Hokage/Sarutobi is being played by Steven Kramer, a man who has been around the VA block for a while, but only as a bit actor, staying around for a couple of episodes, mainly a secondary part. I don't even recognize the Animes he's actually had a starring role in.

They made a mistake with these two. Hokage-sama is a very important character, and deserves a good voice. as for Hinata, it would have made sense if they got the VA who played Collette in Tales of Symphonia, like they did in japan for her VA in the japanese version, because she could pull it off, but no, they did some new person. Forgive me, but this might wind up being really bad if they make choices like these.

Any opinions on these recent developments?

Okay, now I know these have been announced...

Steve Blum - Hatake Kakashi
Other Roles:
Sanjuro and Wiseman - .hack
Spike Spiegal - Cowboy Bebop
Various Digimon Roles
Notes: One of the best Voice Actors ever, no worries here. Wiseman/Spike (Same Voice) as Kakashi would be perfect.

Colleen O'Shaughnessey - Yamanaka Ino and Konohamaru
Other Roles:
Sora - Digimon
Genis - Tales of Symphonia
Suzy - Zatch Bell
I'd probably say...Sora for Ino, and Genis for Konohamaru, Genis as Konohamaru will work for me.

Stephanie Sheh - Hyuuga Hinata
Other Roles:
Harmonia and Melodia - Rave Master
Shion - Zatch Bell
Notes: Never watched Rave Master or Zatch Bell, so I can't comment.

Steve Kramer - Sandaime Hokage
Other Roles:
Minor roles in Wolf's Rain, Rurouni Kenshin, Gundam, Outlaw Star, FLCL.
Notes: He was an Old Granny in .hack...so I'm sure he can pull off an Old Man too, the above anime are all great, so I'm not worried about his performance.

Now, beyond these Four, Nothing else has been proven for fact. Last I checked, Johnny Young Bosh as Naruto, Eric Stuart as Gaara, Rachel Lillis as Sakura, and Mark Hildreth as Sasuke, were all rumors, posted over at Narutofan, and labeled as rumors.

The other four were proven though. Blum reported himself. Stephanie said so in an interview. Colleen also said so in an interview. And, Steve reported so, according to someone talking to him at AnimeExpo.

I'm not disagreeing with em. Mark would be a GREAT Sasuke. The other three, I'm not so sure on. I just hope things change before an official word is released, which will probably be soon, seeing as how it airs on the 10th of September.

Anyhow, BT, you have heard Kakashi's voice before, you just didn't know it. =P

Thanks for setting me straight on the rumors thing, guess AnimeNewsNetwork still doesn't have a clue themselves, so they have to stick to rumors. But I'm sticking to my guns. If those VAs do become the Naruto characters, my opinions stand.

Sasuke's character has officially been announced as belonging to Yuri Lowenthal, also known from Rave Master as Haru Glory. I don't think the voices match up well at all. He'll have to throw a really really good performance for it to pay off.

The noisy ninja himself has officially been announced. Brianne Siddall is playing the voice of Naruto. You would know her as playing the real immature voices of Tsukasa and Elk in .hack// and Tommy from Digimon, and a little more mature version as Jim Hawking in Outlaw Star. Unless she does another Jim on everyone, I think Naruto is gonna sound REALLY girly. Please Siddall, don't blow this part!

My appologies, looks like its been changed (guess ANN got mislead), and Viz issued the official list. Not only that but Blum has swapped out from Kakashi and has taken Zabuza. Here's the official thing from ANN.

Sakura - Kate Higgins
Naruto - Maile Flanagan
Sasuke - Yuri Lowenthal

Kakashi - Dave Whittenberg
Hinata - Stephanie Sheh

Tsunami - Cindy Robinson
Ino/Konohamaru - Colleen O'Shaughnessy
Asuma - Doug Ehrholtz
Gato - Fred Tatasciore
Tazuna - Kirk Thornton
Iruka - Quinton Flynn
Choji - Robbie Rist
Hokage - Steve Kramer
Zabuza - Stephen Blum
Shikamaru - Tom Gibbas

Most of these people are brand new. The only person I have a complaint about is Kakashi, you'd know him as Mullin Shetland from Last Exile, Henry from Digimon, and all sorts of other things.

hmm..its not really those voices im too concerned about, except for Naruto and Sasduke, but i hope to god they dont screw up on Itachi, Orochimaru, and Kabuto's voices..those are my favs!!!

Heheh, a huge smile crept over my face when I read the VA for Gaara. Personally, I've been waiting for a long time to see this dub when I heard that ShoPro was in charge of it. People told me 'ShoPro is owned by Viz, so it won't be that bad'. I haven't been following the news lately, but if it was ShoPro who went through with the dub......hehehe.

I hate the way they did Rockman.exe. I know it's hackneyed, but they truly butchered it. I'm not talking about the VA's either. I mean whole chunks of episodes never aring, episodes where characters are introduced.

As for voice acting, that's part of the reason I really don't watch subbed anymore. It doesn't matter how the voice for a character sounds in it's japanese form, when we hear the same character using a different voice, it's awkward. Pretty common sense actually, we grow on how one thing sounds, but when it gets changed we don't like it, good voice acting or bad. Now obviously this isn't the case for every voice over, but remains true for most of them. I won't be able to watch it saturday, though im anxious to see how it turns out.

I heard some of Naruto's voice on the video clip they're showing on the Cartoon Network site... and.. I don't really like it. =x; It kinda sounds like Luffy... except not as high-pitched. >_>; But I might've gotten that last bit wrong, 'cause I don't really watch One Piece, lawl.
