Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

NATS @ INDIANAPOLIS: Your Thoughts.

though, I never made it to St Louis last year, I think Indy rocked. whole lots of room, places to eat and convention center was right across the sky walk - AWESOME !!!

I would complain about the lack of Pokemon music for the VGC, but given the prior programming practices for my station, that would be the pot calling the kettle black.

Getting food was a lot easier, though I didn't like that the mall closed early on Sunday (Steak N Shake was good though). I got a ton of steps on my Pokewalker (though still not enough seemingly to get a surfing/flying Pikachu). Overall, things seemed pretty well organized and laid out.

One thing I noticed about the VGC is that the finals took considerably less time on HGSS than they did on PBR.

That was mainly because HGSS doesn't take forever to load, pick options, then load some more for the animations and such like with PBR. It's less flashy, but playing on the DS definitely speeds things up, and honestly is just as good to watch.

My ONLY complaint would have to be the 13-hour drive from southern Louisiana.

Otherwise, Indianapolis was a GREAT location. The venue was huge, there was a "chillin" room, there were a lot of hotels nearby, and the mall had Taco Bell, A&W, a candy store, and a game place. In short, everything that I would need or enjoy was right there. In addition, the nice weather was a relief from the Louisiana heat.

I actually liked the event. The only things that would have made the trip bad were some weird things that happened in Indy that were outside of nats.

Main highlights.(in no particular order)
-Putting faces to names off of pokegym and other sites. (it was funny how I met you red face paint.)
-Getting an Eevee Die from EeveeLover (it's awesome, I can't believe I forgot my Eevee)
-Having a great time with my standard friends from North Texas (like a big road trip)
-Having fun despite not doing well in the Main Event.
-Well organized Event overall
-Great side events that actually made you think about how to build a deck and prepped you for the next format (Platinum Series Challenge, Mutant Draft, Prof Cup, and charity event)
-Meeting new people from all over. (A lot of the people were surprised that we DROVE from the Dallas Area)
-Getting great pictures
-Having White Castle for the first time. (let's get some stores in TX PLEASE!)
-I actually loved that they had things to do for people that didn't make top cut. I loved those quick 8 man tourneys.
-loved the open gaming area.(liked that this allowed for late night gaming.
- loved the new sleeves I bought. They're AWESOME!!!!!

Overall, I would love to do it again.

First nats ever..... best nats ever :pokeball:

Seemed great to me.... would definitely do it again, no questions asked if its held here again.

The venue and surrounding area is absolutly amazing!!!

I really think Pokemon hit a home run with this one....

No reason not to keep it there!!!

Jimmy

This works Jimmy! Even though i had to leave early I had a GREAT time!Plenty of food ( Shula's with Jim Roll was simply AMAZING!!), loved the set up of the hotels and also hope Pokemon Nationals has found a home :thumb:

Fantastic location. Great room in the convention center and area. Don't move it. And this is coming from California.

Some thoughts as a VGC Player:

-The convention center and its location was outstanding. To add to the fact that there is a mall just a block away from the convention center is even more awesome. Several places to eat such as Steak n Shake made me very very happy.

-Hotel right across the street, making it very convenient. Although my hotel was a mile away, I know that if it's in Indy again next year I'm getting one of the hotels closer.

This is more related to the actual VGC tournament - I thought it was excellent, but would it hurt to put up standings after say round 5 or 6? That was the one thing I disliked, otherwise, 2010 was the most amazing Nationals ever.
