Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Nevada (3/1) & California (3/8) Championships

do you think the only schedule your PTO had to deal with was the card shop's? how about that of the pasadena hilton?

ballroom/meeting room space is not easy to book, especially during prom season; it's VERY possible that the 8th was the ONLY day they could book of the two.

and now the 'argument' is going to be 'then he should have gone somewhere else,' of course....

No, I'm going to say a bunch of Nevadans even said they thought the dates were originaly switched so if that was the case then why the change:confused:. If the location had to change from the regular Cali location then it could have easily been changed. You set yourself up for this one:rolleyes:.

Lawls pokemom got PwN3d.

I agree with cheese alcheist(as usuall)

Considering that the TO's are freinds, and I AM verifying that becasue I know that first hand, if they had any type of brains they wouldn't have done this. The only reason Im going to go to states is because I cant go to the PTQ in hollywood and I dont spend enough money on yu gi oh to play competativly. And states is free.

Which brings me to my next point. Pokemon is free. TO;s dont care if people show up for events. They dont et paid differently. Thats why the TO for NV pokemon booked such a tiny place; Hes a cheap retard. And he leaves from most events that he TO's.

Another thought that i was a retard and forgot to mention because it is important: Why are the events on ifferent days? shouldn't they be on the same day so they are actal STATES. you know where people from their STATE play people from their STATE in their STATE at STATES. People from California will come to Nevada and Nevadans will come to California. IMHO they aren't STATES, they are big tournements.

They're not even State Championships back here considering what some of us have to go through to get to them. I just wish for once California States could be in Northern California, you know, where one of the biggest leagues in the World resides and several very good players.

Ya thats pretty bad that you guys don't get one up there

*facepalms* this is just like the 'zomg, why is worlds held there/on that date!!1!!' threads.

the PTO is first, limited to *two* dates they can hold states. on ONE of those two dates, they have to find an opening at acceptable venue, in an accessable location, capable of holding X number of players, at a price within the budget they're working with.

finding a venue meeting all those criteria is NOT simple, and takes a lot of legwork; unless you've planned a similar event, you've no idea just how much work it actually IS. you'd really rather think that your PTO is actively *trying* to screw around with the people who play more than one game, rather than this was the best he could do given the limitations he was working under? really?

...and after all that angst, those of you who are complaining are going to to states after all
because of <insert excuse here> as to why you "can't" go to 'other game's' event

so WHY complain? you weren't going to be going elsewhere ANYWAY...

For the THIRD time you speak as if you know the situation. NV states is being held in a very mall place in the less developed part of Henderson. Why, you ask; because its cheap. Gameworld, the place in summerlin where most of the previous large events was open on that day to pokemon, as they always are open to premeire events. Want to know why the tournement isn't there? Because gameworld charges more mony. Our PTO had options in deciding the place of the tournement, and considering the places that were options i assume he had options on dates as well. So before you reply, this time think"Do I really know what I'm talking about?"

oh silly me, i guess you're right: yr PTO iz teh ebil and onley out 2 screw all teh playaz.

never mind little things like budgets, they should just be waving the POP-issued PTO magic wand and making everything zomgPERFECT!!11!, with events that won't conflict with ANYone's schedules, in the perfect venue right in EVERYone's back yard. and if they *don't*, they're doing it ON PURPOSE becuz they hate U all. why didn't *i* think of that...

*sarcasm detector explodes*

First off if that was supposed to be 13375p34l< then turn off your computer. Second off, I dont care about the location of the store. Its the store that I am complaining about. It was literally full to the point where we almost had to play outside for citys. And budgets arent the issue. Gameworld was charging around $50 so they could cancel they're weekly yu gi oh tournement and not loose money. The place we got I beleive is doing it for very, very little if not free. And no matter where it is, it will be far away from someone, so I once again point out that Im not conmplaining about the location of the store. When I said that it was in an underdeveloped area, it was to give you a more descriptive thought of the store itself. Acutally, I live about 5 minutes away from this place, and about 45 minutes away from gameworld, but I would still prefer it be there.

I don't know anything about the cost concerns of the local PTO for this event and what factors in his decision about this or that place, but you are making some incorrect assumptions about how PTOs get compensated for events.
Without going into details, assuming that a PTO gets the same comp for an event whether 10 people or 100 people attend is, well, a word I can't use because then I'd get the same infraction points you're getting for using it multiple times in this thread.

If thats true why would someone book a small place so that players wont be able to coem. The small space that was rented is a erason why many players wont be attending. And, is there anywhere where I can find the rules of this site? cause I didn't know the word pat used that means, erm, "slow person" wasn't allowed.

Also since our tournament location is costing him probably nothing he could have spent more on the Cali location and had the tournaments were they were not conflicting with anything else.

There's one thing I figured I'd ask here. Can a TO even make players play there games outside of a store when the store they book is way too small. At one of our cities or battle roads he said you can either play outside where it was windy or you could take a loss for the round. I mean what kind of bull is that.

so WHY complain? you weren't going to be going elsewhere ANYWAY...

Let's review, I'm going to the PTQ since the prizes there actually mean something unlike at States plus that games so much better anyway. And Pat might be borrowing stuff from me since I'm not playing which gives him more reason to go to states.

lawls I got banned.....

Anyways, If he is paying so little, where is he putting the extra money? because as cheese alchemist pointes out, he spent no "extra" money on cali. I know it was expensive, but not more expensive than i usually is, seeing as it is the same place and assuming they didn't change their prices dramitcally. So he spent less money in NV and the samne in cali, wheres the extra money?

so yeah, if this is the "thread" about who's going where and blah blah blah...then here I come SIN CITY...be there with a car load.

check ya later.

_Breeder

We did have a plan to go to States, but things happen and now the plan is canceled. One member from our group is going there and probably a few other players from our surrounding area are going as well. Hopefully I'll be able to go to my first States next year.

Have fun everybody!

Lawls now im not going to play. I got banned from POP for a year. im still going to annoy the **** out of certain choice players, though.

What is the truth?

Hi all.

I was made aware of the thread comments going on here...it sure was entertaining. It is interesting to me to see what those on the outside looking in preceive; I appreciate the insights this gives me. I am not going to respond herein expect to say that of the comments presented, only Pokemom and Bulbasnore were accurate (and little if anything from Cheese and Pat were of note). There is much behind the scenes that happens to make a successful event (i.e., the majority of the work of a PTO) and its culmination is having a fun, exciting, rewarding tournament in the end. I know that both the Nevada and California States will be such. I look forward to seeing everyone who can make it there. Thanks and have a good evening.

well, i cant wait to see jesse and the gang again!!!
its gonna be fun, but tight oh well... the store has chess to pass the time wooo :D
