I built this deck for a friend for the new fromat. He has been playing shiftry for a while, but with the mysterious treasures prereleases i was able to update the deck. Now for the strategy. First you obviously have to know what kind of deck your opponent is playing in order to play the right shifrty. A power heavy deck you of course want to get out dark eyes shifrty by T2-T3 and just snipe with target attack. Now for every other deck the main strategy is to get out skill hack shiftry on T1 if you are going second, or by T2 for hopefully an early win. Budew is in there to grab candies, and roselia and roserade are in the for an annoying stall if you are having trouble setting up the shiftrys. Absol i just threw in for a bit of unexpected fun.

Wow. This deck is really good. The only thing I might change if it were me is the amounts of some of the pokemon. I would probably take out 1 or 2 nuzleaf, 1 or 2 super scoop up (I just don't like how it's based on a coin flip), and the Team Galactic's Wager for some more absol ex, roserade, and budew, but that's just me. You probably know way more about this deck than I do anyway.

ok, Its pretty solid but the main problem with Shiftry is its double weakness to fighting and Grass meaning that Mario can take 2 prizes for 1 energy and Torterra is pretty devastating too. I'd say to tech in a 2-1-2 Blastoise d line in place of the Roserade line and maybe 1 Dp shiftry.

I concur that a tech-in of a 2-1-2 or 2-2 would help against weakness. I just don't know what to suggest yet. Lucario?

i like the suggestion. Just not adding in a stage 2 line. a stage 1 line should be enough but i have no idea what i could put in

I would use my favorite research engine and balance energy already in my deck vs attacks,
resistance to the current weakness of my deck's main hitter, and sort by hit points....
So I've picked "Future Modified" for HP-on selection, picked resistance to Fighting, and asked for Pokemon of Stage 1 or below.
And now that I can consult Pokepedia: 25 possibilities arise, from which I think the best are:
Rayquaza Ex (Promo #39), basic @ 100 HP , Colorless, would mean you also had to swap the Special Darks for a playset of DRE, to be able to power "[1LR] Twister (50)"
Also, from HP: Latios d and Rayquaza d, each with 80 HP, have decent attacks and are also Basic.
Vibrava (Stage 1, PK, Colorless) has a good attack. Back it up with an appropriate Trapinch and you're ready to test.

My personal faves would be 2-2 Sneasel/Weavile, and they use your current energies.
(I'm biased, because back in the day I played the original Sneasel deck as a Gym Leader.)
