new League NYC

no 1 wants 2 pay the admission and i havent gotten league stuff because the new season still hasnt officially started any way theres a better place that will run a league 4 free but i doubt people would take a trip to scarsdale but if u guys r interested let me know
 
There's a place near me that might have a basement or something. It's called Forbidden Planet, maybe I could ask them.

I think a couple of the regular league peeps are working on other Manhattan locations ....no idea what the outcome will be....lets cross our fingers and hope we all participate in the same league
 
Thanks for taking the time to look this up NoPoke but just to let you know, Staten ISLAND is pretty hard to get to from where we live whereas one could easily get to Rock in a hour or less by public transportation.

And yeah, as long as we can get one place where everyone from NYC goes to instead of scattered places, that would be good.

I could look into FP. What should I ask them? Should I talk to the manager? Do we need a lot of people to persuade them? Do we have to pay to start it?

And, I don't really care how we end up getting a place. It's really how many people end up going there... the point of league is really mainly to practice and have fun. I'd much rather go to Rock where there are no prizes but there are a lot of good players over a small official league with beginners. Just my two cents. If you guys want to, go for it, but lets hope it doesn't end up as the one in this thread did.
 
so, what are everyone's plans for THIS weekend? Attending or not attending, and which league. I will be at Staten Island Sunday. I'd go somewhere on Saturday, if anyone announces anything....

we are in the process.. but so far they only want mondays... but my bro, a couple of other ppl, and me are still in the works with them

Clean: mostly everyone is going to Rockafeller center.

trust me i want to after hearing this but pop wont verify my league i filled out the application

weeks ago, they still havent answered can some 1 tell me wat i did wrong
 
ok. so we all know about KG in brooklyn, right?
well, one to two stops away, on Neck Road, is another comic book store.
Im currently in the process of starting a league there with the store owner.

He said that we can probably do it (as of right now) on Tuesdays or Thursday (only b/c other tournaments occur on weekends at NIGHT), but nothing is final yet.

While there won't be a just-pay fee just to play there necessarily, we might require the anyone who wants to sit down and play, needs to first buy something, say a booster pack, snacks, bunch of old pkmn Singles, or whatever. (around 3 to 5 dollars)
I think this is really reasonable.

They still have Base Set 2, Team Rocket, Gym Leaders and Challenge, as well as some new ones (like Ex Poker Keepers, Mys. Treasures, Rising Rivals) for a very reasonable price
(4 for $10, 3 for $10, depending on which one)

Old commoncs/uncommons/rare .25 each
Holo rares $2 each

It should be totally worth it. I love this store!! Especially for collectors.
League coming soon, I hope!

P.S. (No intention of deterring other locations for a league, just a random update)
 
clean, that would be excellent if you can set that up. I'm fine with buying a pack or snacks, this way, it's a win-win situation for everyone.
