Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

New Meta Game

You are obviously underestimating AMU. The deck is very fast and recovers from a KO much better than you do. One shotting those big torterras over and over is definitely gonna hurt.

AMU does not recover from a KO more quickly than Torterra. Yes, they can OHKO Torterra with Mesprit Lv.X, but ONLY if they have the other two Lv.Xs in play. I'll almost certainly get a Torterra out before they accomplish this and be hitting for 60 a turn, 100 if I have Sceptile out. In addition, the ONLY attack they can OHKO me with is Supreme Blast.

Don't forget azelf lv.x you only need 5 energy in play for azelf to take out a sceptile or even 3 to take out your support. Amu is definetly quicker because unless you get a god start ti takes a couple of turns to get 2 torterras out and a sceptle. If you only get 1 torterra mesprit just kills it and you have no more support. Also unless your focus is the MD torterra which it shouldn't because that one is horrible as a main attacker then you won't be 1 HKoing them either especially if they play snowpoint temple. I'd say it's 55-45 in amu's favor.

if you manage to get out 2 torterra's and a sceptile out by turn 3.....

yea, and all they need to do is attach 2 energy to mesprit to ko your stage two.
and guess what?
energy pickup/switch says i can do it AGAIN.....AND AGAIN...AND AGAIN!
Only a bad version of AMU gets setup later than t3.

AMU out speeds torteara by so much it isnt funny. GL keeping up with my Mesprit lv.x.

70-30 in AMU's favor.

I think Torterrible (Torterra/Sceptile) isn't getting enough credit. I'm playing it at BRs, since it pretty much owns everything. Let's look at the matchups against the metagame:

Kingdra variants incl. Kingdol: If you can get a Torterra out, they're going to have a very hard time dealing with it. Unless they get a superfast setup, they're gonna have a lot of trouble. With them discarding twice, it takes them a full three hits to knockout a Torterra. They have to discard three times against the Lv.X. Not to mention that Sceptile has water resistance. This match is in Torterra's favor.

Empoleon variants: Due to Empoleon's ability to hit for up to 100, this is a tougher matchup than Kingdra, but still very winnable. Torterra 2HKOs Empoloeon, and Empoleon 2HKOs Torterra, provided they can get their energy out. However, after a knockout, it is easier for the Torterra player to recover than for Empo player to recover. Oh, and if the Empo deck is a spread deck with Bronzong, it will be beaten very badly. You can't spread against a 140HP beast deck. This match is in Torterra's favor.

Scorpio/Gliscor: Since Scorpio hits Torterra with Special Conditions and not that much damage, this match is easily winnable. While Scorpio need a minimum of two turns to KO Torterra does it in one. No problem. This match is in Torterra's favor.

AMU: AMU suffers from a relatively slow setup. In addition, Torterra OHKOs any of the pixies. And the deck won't be played much because of how expensive it is to build. 'nuff said. This match is in Torterra's favor.

G&G/PLOX: Some people will probably still play it for BRs. Since they have to flip four prizes just to KO a single Torterra (five for the Lv.X), G&G deck doesn't do so good against Torterra. Sure, Gardy can come and Psychic Lock your Claydols, but it needs three turns to KO a Torterra, while Torterra only needs one. This match was winnable before Scramble/DRE/etc. rotated, now it's not remotely difficult. This match is in Torterra's favor.

Anything with Magmortar incl. MagLeaf: This may see some play, although with the dominance of Kingdra and Empo, it won't see much. This match is still winnable, but you need a very fast setup and you need to strike before they start attaching a lot of energies. Once you knock out their initial Leafeon/Magmortar it will be very hard for them to recover. Then again, Torterra is weak to Magmortar, so this is a tougher matchup than most. This match is about even, but probably a little bit in the Magmortar player's favor.

Infernape variants: Since this is a straight fire deck, it will barely see any play in the current metagame due to Empo and Kingdra. And, if someone wants to play with fire (no pun intended), Magmortar is better. Even though Torterra is weak to Infernape, this isn't as one sided as you'd think; Torterra OHKOs Infernape with a PlusPower or Buck's Training. However, weakness usually dominates. This match is in Infernape's favor.

Garchomp variants: Since Garchomp can be played so many ways, it's really hard to prepare for this matchup. So, the advantage depends on the type of Garchomp deck.

Any prominent decks that aren't listed? LMK! However, I think it's pretty clear that Torterrible breaks the metagame.

I hope you're joking here.

I doubt that you'll see alot of AMU cause of how expensive the deck is and also the rarity of the cards so this battle roads i do not them as a big threat yet. JMO I could be wrong

I hope you're joking here.

Why would I be joking? Torterra butchers pretty much everything. Tell me what you're playing and I'll tell you why Torterra beats it. Oh wait... it says on your profile that you're "still searching for the right deck." Maybe I could offer you a hand... Torterra?
