Prime - The way things work on eBay (mabe you know this already) is this:
If someone has placed a bid at the maximum they are willing to pay (let's say Mr. Big will go up to $1000 for item whatever), and the current high bidder has bid, say, $250 as their max, then Mr Big's new high bid will seem to be $250 + a $5 bid increment (based upon the range of the bids**) to the world at large.
When someone comes along (say lukerc10t4 )and tries to test Mr Big's maximum (also called his proxy) by making several bids, each one just one increment higher each time, then the world sees each seperate bid, but meanwhile Mr Big remains the high bidder. At some point, either Mr Big remains the current winner or lukerc10t4 manages to discover Mr Big's max and surpass it, becoming the new high bidder.
Did this 'splanation help at all?????
All this has nothing to do with this contest, since the likelyhood of someone here winning the auction and the contest are low.
**$5 increments from $ 250.00 - $ 499.99 - See table -> here for others!
Espeonchris14 - please post a new guess, and state that you are retracting your previous one. This is necessary because new guesses will then be treated as new, and be listed later on the, um, list. This is important because of rule #5.
