There is currently no sanctioned events so there are no Leagues currently operating anywhere.
You might find a "club" or "society" that meets at a game store - an unsanctioned meet up.
Same for local tournaments - any Pokémon tournament would be unsanctioned (though there is a world wide on-line event called the Team Challenge going on now and bigger events such as Regionals being held)
Pokémon has an event locator but since nothing is sanctioned, it doesn't work. So you've done the next best thing - ask around. Hopefully someone from SC will see this and let you know.
