Newbie getting back into game

Hi all,

I've been looking to get back into the game as I've been out for many years. I'm looking to start to make a few decks to run in competitive play. I've been watching a lot of matchups on youtube to get an idea of what decks most people run. I've been looking mainly at some kind of Donphan deck and a counter to that. Either Gyardos or VileGar. Unfortunately I have no cards to speak of as I gave most of them away when I left. I need to know a set or 2 where I can buy a few boxes to get a good chunk of the deck going, then get singles from other places.

Donphan Prime is from Heartgold Soulsilver, and Vileplume is from HGSS: Undaunted. Gengar and Gyarados are both from Stormfront.

If you buy one box each from those 3 sets you should be able to get most of what you need for your decks, as well as most of what other people might need that you can trade them for the rest.

A thing to think about is, is that the next format, stormfront is going to be rotated out. At least a 99.999% chance it will.
