Nintendo World.

Hi,

I'm finally getting to go to the Nintendo World store next week, after many years of yearning for this day to come. I've never been before, so I figured you guys would be the ones to ask.

How much money do you think I should bring? Is their Pokemon section huge/exclusive/awesome? Also, how long will I be paralyzed with awe upon first entering the building?

It depends on whether you're really interested in the Nintendo DS stuff, because I believe that is the first thing you will see when you walk in, unless they changed it since I was last there. If there is anything like a video game or a T-Shirt you want to get that is Nintendo related, you can bet you can get it there, so bring money for those things. In fact, they do have a lot of cool T-shirts if you like those. There are a lot of Pokemon things there, but it is mostly toys, and not a lot of tcg stuff from what I recall. Don't expect there to be a big section on just tcg. One more thing I will suggest to you is to definitely bring your DS with Pokemon Diamond/Pearl video game, because there will probably be kids there trading/battling.

Are you going to the one in NY??? Because I have been there and it's really cool, They have a big sphere with lots of screens on it, at least they did when I went. ++++ You can play on the Wii's and stuff, they have pokémon cards as well, they have tins TD's and packs..

It isn't as good as Pokémon Center was, when I was at Pokémon Center I think I spent like $80 and at Nintendo World $12.
You should PM some NYC poke players to hang out with, they are very nice.
I got to meet Peter, MK, Christian and Lawrence when I was there.

Thanks for all the responses guys.

G-Dogg, you hit it right on the head, I'm mainly hoping to find some cool shirts and Pokemon stuff. I didn't think of bringing my DS, so now I'm certainly going to do that. Maybe I can download a Ranger Net Mission for Pokemon Ranger 2 while I'm there, hopefully. Plus, I fine-tuned my level 100 team a few weeks ago, so I'm ready to take on all comers in D/P.

homeofmew, I'm jealous. I never got to see it as the Pokemon Center. However, my cousins went to the Grand Opening, and brought me back a promo bandana that were giving away at the time, which was cool. If only we could convince Nintendo that the Pokemon Center should be brought back. :D

Serebii, what days do you guys run your League? Also, could you PM me directions? I've only been to NYC once before, and me and my friend had no idea where we were half the time. -_-; We spent most of our time trying to learn the subway maps to get around.

You should bring $50-200 depends on how much of a pokemon fan you are. If you don't find anything pokemon-related that you like, they have most good wii/DS games, so you might wanna pick something up.
Their pokemon section is huge, I don't know about exclusive, and not very awesome on the eyes of a TCG player who doesn't really care about plushies and figures (aka me).
Its not really that amazing of a building either... its a normal building. Make sure you go upstairs to try out some wii games, though. ;p

We found Nintendo World to be disappointing too. But we had thoughts of it being like the Pokemon Center but it's more geared to the video games, hence the name: Nintendo World. You can buy DS systems in many styles and colors and all glitzy. There are Mario shirts and plushies. They may have a special download for your D&P game. YOu can play and demo games and systems there. It has 3 floors. You can buy some Pokemon toys, mostly the little figures. The prices are high. You can probably do better at the Toys R Us down the road--worth stopping at anyway. The place is pretty neat, but we didn't buy anything. We were more wow'd over the Toys-N-Joys shop in Honolulu. They had lots of neat Japanese Pokemon items.

My cousin just got back from heading up there, and she said it wasn't too great either. Funnily enough, she also suggested I check out the gigantic Toys'R'Us. As soon as she mentioned they have a gigantic T-Rex statue/model, I was in agreement. I will craft a remote control and motorize this T-Rex, and frolick throught the streets riding bareback on it.

Pokemon merchanide-wise, I'm just hoping to find some kind of Garchomp merchandise, and hopefully find the electronic plush Pachirisu. I've been looking everywhere for it, to no avail. -_-; Other then that, my money will be going to anything cool I see laying around.

The toys r us in NY is AMAZING. Definately go there. I can't actually say anyhting about Nintendo World since it was pokemon center when I was there.
