Again it's not a "Sock puppet account". I told everyone I had to make it in order to post.

---------- Post added 08/05/2011 at 02:08 PM ----------

A lot of people keep telling me I'm hiding behind a "Sock Puppet Account". I'm not this is my account now. This is my username. I don't even know who half of the people posting on here are. You don't have your name listed, so aren't all of you hiding?? There are a few people actually signing there name to posts. Most of you aren't, so how can you say I'm hiding when most of you are hiding behind your accounts??

The name is just a coincidence I suppose? Bad troll is bad.

I know what it's like to run a major event. I've staffed and judged at worlds and other major events. I'm on of those people who worked my butt off at those events helping keep things going. Which is how I know that most of the staff and judges are a joke. I will admit. Some do work their butts off. Most don't. Most do it just for the free stuff. They kiss just enough butt to get to come back again. The hard workers who knew what they were doing don't kiss butt, so pokemon stopped bringing them back. For pokemon I assume butt kissing come above knowledge of the rules of the game.

This above paragraph alone screams troll.

Funny. Which worlds are you thinking of? Of the past 5 years, I've been to 4 worlds, and I didn't see any staff slacking off at all. I'd like to think my attention to detail is pretty solid, especially when I wanted to know what being a worlds judge was like and making mental notes on how these good folk handled themselves.

I was on the staff last year, and I'm on the staff again this year. I didn't butt kiss at all in the past 12 months or last year. I put my head down, judged, and did what was asked of me and upheld the duty that was given. A lot of what you see might just be inexperience.

I'm not the best, not by a long shot. Plenty to learn still. Plenty of maturing to do on my part still. But I get the job done. As is the case of a handful of staff.

and props to those with that major experience to teach us.

this from someone who not only accuses major event staff of being incompetent 'butt kissers' but whose username is 'LOL@pokemons_staff'?

pot, meet kettle...

'mom

I picked the name because I liked it. Just like you made your account with the name you like.

Besides hasn't the thread gotten off track and isn't it your job to direct it back to the original topic or to lock it??

Again I say... stop the hating, the bashing, and the cyber bullying.

Because from regular conversation and introducing ourselves in person, we learn who others are as time goes by.

Hi, I'm Carlos Pero, the guy Aydan thanked in his 6P apology article today. Pokedad, Professor, League Owner, Tournament Organizer, and a player who T32 at Nats and T8 in the Professor Cup.

And you are?

I have in my pocket a shiny American Quarter-Dollar, and shall wager it unreservedly upon the assertion that no such introduction is forthcoming from Mr. LOLS@pokemons_staff.

People keep saying I am hiding behind a "Sock puppet account". I am not. I clearly state in a previous post that I couldn't recall the info to my old account. Even if I was doing this from my old account no one would know who I am. I don't think I have ever posted on the gym until this thread. Everyone is assuming the worst of me because I had to create a new account. Why is that?? I clearly gave my reasons for having to make this account.

Again I say stop the hating, the bashing, and the cyber bullying.

Post a name or go away. If you only shout accusations about things w/o any verification, it is usuless drivel.

Keith

(Not afraid to post my name......everyone knows me, or most do)

Now normally I don't question what mods do, but why this guy hasn't been banned/IP blocked yet I dunno when he's obviously trying to derail the topic...

Oh please. He doesn't HAVE to post his name. That doesn't make his points any less valid (assuming he's not lying about working at tournaments). Stop attacking him and look at his ARGUMENTS. After all, maybe he's afraid to state his name because TPCi will slam the ban hammer on him if he talks badly about their program. It does seem that a lot of the time, people go out of their way to defend TPCi and to attack wrongdoers as a means of proving their loyalty. I'm not saying it's always a negative thing or at the forefront of people's agendas when they post, but it does seem to get quite noticeable in threads like these.

What he SHOULD do is expand the paragraph below and go into more detail (more detail could be enough to prove he does actually have enough merit to backup his opinion). While I'm not an experienced Pokemon volunteer, I have heard some of the things he's talked about from various people over the years (re: butt kissing, not giving new people a chance to work at big tournies, etc.). It's subtle complaints, often mentioned in passing, but I've heard them enough to actually think they could be true. They're not my opinions or arguments and I have no way of knowing whether they're recurring themes with regards to how tournaments are run, which is why I invite the guy to go into more detail. If he can't, and other people can't say they feel the same way - well then, I guess you guys are justified in attacking him. :p

EDIT: And as a personal note, maybe people WOULD post their names if you guys weren't so combative and "off with his head!!!"-y. PokeGym gets such a mob mentality sometimes. Some mods included. SUCH IS THE PASSION OF POKEMON PLAYAS!!!!

I know others have asked but seriously: why hasn't this thread been locked? It's a mess. Whatever the arguments for people venting their frustrations, this has now become worse than a joke.

It's a record of how poorly the Pokemon community acts. So please, whatever your opinion on what happened, either say it with dignity or just don't say it at all.

I for one will be glad to see the back of this thread. Please, please lock it.

Obviously trying to de-rail the topic? Sure looks like he's the one saying it has gone off topic. Nothing in that post is trollish and/or worth a block. He may be anonymous, but his points are as valid as the next guy.

If one is a Professor, there is a right way and a wrong way to tell us about issues with our program. Using problems as a weapon to attack and damage the program (like this person has thus far) is the wrong way. Contacting us directly or on our forums in order to be a part of fixing the problem is the right way.
This is not some esoteric or hard to grasp concept, and most Professors know better.

LOL, I have never noticed my butt being kissed so anyone doing so is wasting their time.

People can volunteer at events like Nationals and Worlds just about anytime they like as long as there is work that needs to be done and not enough hands to do it. Up until the last day at Nationals this year we were actually a bit short handed and would have taken anyone willing to help. Any number of the folks now helping us with critical roles as these events started off just volunteering to help with whatever needed to be done. Running player slips as well as helping secure areas and direct crowds are not glamorous jobs but they are jobs that need to get done and we appreciate those willing to make it happen.

I agree. This thread makes me not want to play pokemon or talk to anyone in the pokemon community.

This thread is dumb and it should feel dumb.

People on the 'gym seem to hate on MTG, but I assure you that you woun't see anywhere close to this much whinning, complaining, immaturity, rudness, and nonsensical bull on an MTG forum.

The mods said earlier they wouldn't close it and even re-opened it. Which is a shame, since as people have been saying since the first few pages, this thread is way out of hand (and the issue is sorta kinda done?). Best thing to do is to try to calm the thick anger in the air and bring people back down to reality.

True dat. Sometimes, though, some issues seem too minor to bring up on their own and they come out during heated situations like this. Like I said in my post, in regards to the "butt kissing," that's something I've been hearing about since EX Team Magma vs. Team Aqua. @_@ A little bit here, a little bit there, a little from Joe, a little from Mary, a little at this tournament, a little at that tournament. Maybe it's just people venting and there's no real truth behind it after all. Either way, tact or not, we should still try to understand Mr. Anon's arguments and ask him to back them up. Some people just aren't capable of expressing themselves on an online forum, and sometimes people get caught up in a situation and blow up when they don't normally act like that (we're all human). That doesn't mean we should ignore them or their arguments. Everyone will benefit if some truth is exposed: either he's full of it or there's something to what he's saying. We should try to understand! :)

I find it hard to believe that the head of P!P hasn't had his butt kissed (LOL!). In any organization, people will kiss up. It's human nature. Maybe people are just better at hiding it. Better watch yo butt. :p

I would hope that's how it is! You'll be getting a tap on the shoulder from me at Worlds if I go since I won't be playing. :p

EDIT: What was this thread about again? Some kid bought a trophy or something?

I once played a kid in the professor cup a few years ago who turned 18 about two weeks prior. Somehow, he was able to get 75 points in that short time. It left a sour taste in me. I suppose there will always some who find ways to take advantage of loopholes in the system -- this case being a prime example (no background check was done).

As a holder of two Professor Cup trophies (2nd and 3rd place), I cherish them. I won't be selling them dispite the fact that I might never again play in a professor cup. This person obviously didn't feel the same about his experience in the professor cup. Apparently, to him, it was a joke. To me, that's the disturbing element here.

Now first off, I don't know if this goes on the same way in America, but I can safely say that yes, butt kissing does help as has been proven here in the Netherlands.
Now I ain't gonna point fingers at specific people, but during the years I have been playing (and tried to keep my little league up and running), I have been bombarded from different sides with constant argumenting back and forth between 4 different camps. Get in favor of the mightiest camp, and you'll get to run tournaments and reap the rewards. Get on the bad side, and you lose your tournaments. That seems how a lot of stuff has gone down.
I don't have evidence nor proof, but constantly getting bombarded with those stinging remarks back and front, yeah. Makes me doubt it goes different in the USA.
In the end though, it makes sense. Favorites and friends will always exist. However I have at times been utterly disgusted with the cutthroat way some people around here deal with it. It is one of the reasons I left the game too.

Bottom line, it happens. On what scale, I don't know. But you know the saying about smoke and fire.

Oh and if you want a name with it, Frank B, from Holland. Like most in Holland would know already anyway.

Well, this has been an interesting last day for this thread.
It's been quiet for a few hours now, so time to lock.
Everyone has had more than enough opportunity to get their thoughts out on this.
Let's get ready for Worlds.
