Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

North & East Texas City Championships 2010-2011

It's not quantity, its quality. Tyler obviously has more quality players show up at their tourneys.

Again, that's not a strong arguement. 4 of the 10 master's that played in the tournament were Wolfpack, and a fifth one was our league leader in Garland, so over HALF of the competition was from the Garland League, not the Tyler area. And That's why Dave drove the boys up there. You notice during the Fall Battle Roads they did the same thing, and it was the same result, with Wolfpack taking the top two spots (David and Demarcus), but you only saw one of them placing third in a tourny after that. I would accept if Professor Birch asked people to go up and attend the Tyler Cities, but we all know that wasn't the case.

To each his or her own, I'm only pointing out the facts as presented to the case. Let others judge as they may. To me, it looks like they went for the easy points. I'm no navigation expert, but South Dallas is closer to Haltom than Tyler is, and that's a fact.

Does it seriously matter? Even if they did go for 'easy points', the fact of the matter is that they went to Tyler in any case. Honestly, if they did go just for that, it does nothing but help the player base in Tyler.

:pokeball: More people showed up for that City event than if they hadn't.
:pokeball: Tyler is looked at a bit more favorably as a place to hold events and tournaments.
:pokeball: The playerbase is stoked to play more competitively to 'defend their turf'.
:pokeball: It's no different than OK players coming here or our players going to OK.

This is the type of negativity that I don't like in the playerbase, and stops just short of name-calling. Who cares if they went for easy points? If it's that big of a deal, get your cards in order and make 'em fight for those points.

Well said. I am really wondering why people were so worried about me and the rest of us going to Tyler. There is nothing in the rules that say that we have to go to the cities that's closest to our home. If you guys that were so worried about the competition over there, then why didn't I see the main people complaining going there to give this "competition" that we didn't get. While out there, we get to see how different players think and play like. You see some interesting things that makes you go "hmmm"

And if you look at the history of these play sites on our side of town, they all started out small until someone actually took the time to go out there. That's how Sherman and Tom Bean event got to where they are. So, forgive us for actually trying to give some numbers to Tyler to keep it around.

As for what happened during battle roads, we weren't the only DFW area people to be there. Team Impact showed up and we all know what happened then. How about during the next event, instead of complaining about lack of competition, bring the competition there.

Do you want to know the truth? You can't handle the truth.....

Ever since I saw the the city mat, I made up my mind to go to Tyler so that I give myself the best chance at winning the mat. I rather not trade an "arm and leg" or my "soul" for the city mat even though I really want it.
Tyler represents my best chance at winning the mat of all the city championships in DFW area.
10%(1/10) >>> 2.5%(1/40)
or
10%(1/10) >>>>>>>>>>> 2% (1/50)

I didn't trade an arm and a leg or my soul for mine

1. Stop arguing. It's pointless.
2. It's spelled Haltom.
3. Nobody has to point out facts or judge anything, it doesn't matter.
4. If they went for easy points? Good for them, they obviously had a plan going into it and succeeded. They want to win a trip, hopefully they do and do a good job of representing Texas!
5. Is anyone beside me tired of hearing about Team Wolf Pack? Who the frosslass cares about such a juvenile concept as Pokemon TEAMS!? How about we're all on a team? TEAM TEXAS!

Congrats on winning in Tyler to David, Travis, and Dawson!

Is it possible to get that Dec 4th date up on Page 1?

We might be down there for it if it isn't an invisible event. :p

Its no where near like us Okies traveling to texas. We come to Texas for a big hard tourney. This is nothing but a case of sub-par players wanting easy points. Its why people travel half the country to go to states in places like Utah and regs in Colorado, easy premier rating.

All arguements are moot.
Nobody went for a betetr chance of a mat. Its plain and simply always because it was a known easy tourney.

There is no event on Dec. 4th. The next event is Garland on Dec. 11th. I have added the final two City Championships (Sherman and Tom Bean) to the events calendar at DFWPokémon.com. You can always find your N. Texas information at that website!

I don't know many of Team Wolfpack's records, but I certainly wouldn't call them sub-par ... after all, Demarcus wonTexas states last year. Or was that just another tournament they showed up to to make a grab for easy points? Hm.

Even if it does give them an easy premier rating, wouldn't that just make the rating for whomever beats them in a tournament that much higher? Wouldn't the fall be that much harder for their rating? Why are people angry that they went for the easy points? As I've pointed out before, it just strengthens the playerbase in Tyler if more people show up to their tournaments. If it is seriously such a big deal, stop trying to call them on it in the 'Gym and call them out on the Tournament field. :ppowr:

Enough.

Time to focus on the Garland Cities where EVERYONE can take out their aggression on the tables. Lose the attitude and PLAY! Pokemon.

I like to think that players travel to support (P)TOs.

Besides, the playmats and other goodies where given away by drawing at Haltom, not by winning the Tournament!

Come one Come ALL and make Shane's Job that much harder!!

Hey Dallas / Ft. Worth

Since you have no tournaments on the 4th, feel free to head down I-45 to The Woodlands for TW City Championships. Registration starts at 1:30 and Round 1 kicks off at 2:30.

Pappas BBQ
27752 I-45 North (across the highway from The Woodlands Mall)
The Woodlands, Texas 77385

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

This is pretty cute, argueing over who went to what Cities for some sinister purpose.

Can't wait to meet up with my boy Andy at a tournament soon, so we can get our pokemons on. (Except not Garland. Band Concert)

Hope you guys missed me at Battle Roads.

Like, for real? The 4th is the one day that I don't have to work and there's no freaking tournament????? BULLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL, I'm not even busy during the day on that day either...

Well...I'm trying to make it to a tournament, work+school is sufficiently taking over my life though.

And Josh, I'm like literally considering hijacking my dad's car and takin it up there sometime. Yeah, we need to chill THAT BAD. ;) haha
