North-East UK League

I have been conisdering starting a league in my area (around Newcastle/Sunderland) as I don't think there is a league anywhere near here. I just have a couple of questions.

First off, is there anyone who lives in that area who would be interested in attending? Because I wouldn't want to start a league if no-one was going to show up.

Also a couple of questions about running it.
1) Do I need to pass a Professor test in order to run a league? (If I don't, I'll still read up on all cards in order to be able to answer questions).
2) What would I need to provide for the league? I know the obvious things would be dice and stuff but anything else?
3) Do I need to be located in a place which sells cards or can it be anywhere provided it's a public place?

if you have any other info anyone has about running a league would be great.

Thanks in advance
DJ

Minimum requirements: you need to be 18 or over and have an accessible public venue. Be determined to stick at it as it will take some months to build up players.

No you don't need to pass the professor test but it can't hurt.

The UK govenment has recently chucked some more legislation at us. http://www.isa-gov.org.uk/Default.aspx?page=0

I'm off to the USA soon so won't be able to talk to you about setting up a league. I'm sure the other existing league leaders will offer some general help, the biggest hurdle is always the public location. Location Location Location the rest is relatively easy.

Thanks NoPoke.
I am over 18, and I have a couple of places in mind where I may be able to host and I'll start looking into these sometime soon.
If anything comes of it I'll go through with that new legislation stuff, don't see any reason why it should be a problem.

And once I've read up on all the card rules and stuff I'll do a professor test before starting the league which should help.

If you get it up and running let me know... I run the league in Leeds and we have about 4/5 that come down from Newcastle for tournaments... I'd be happy to send details of the new league out to our distribution list.

All the best

I know Jaedon, I'm one of the 4 or 5 who come down haha.
But thanks anyway, any info or pointers you could give me would be really helpful.
