I've been thinking about ways to make Greninja halfway decent ever since I first saw him. 120 damage a turn without atttacking? Yes please! But, what to do with those energy, and how can I keep that 120 going? I figured Kingdra was as good a choice as any.

Pokemon (20):
4-2-4 Greninja
4-2-4 Kingdra

Trainers (30):
4 Level Ball
4 Ultra Ball
4 Juniper
3 N
4 Skyla
1 Beach (I don't have any more, or else I'd be using them)
1 Super Rod
1 Dowsing Machine
4 Rare Candy
1 Tool Scrapper
2 Muscle Band
1 Professor Letter

Energy (10):
10 Water

The strategy here is to dump energy with Greninja and get them back with Kingdra, dealing 180 damage in the process and OHKOing most Pokemon-EX out there. Even if Kingdra isn't attacking, Greninja's 1-for-60 isn't a terrible attack, though obviously not the main strategy of this deck. In here, you have to manage your damage drops very carefully to get one-shots every turn while not wasting more than 10 or 20 damage each turn.

Obviously, this is only a first attempt at the deck. I'm thinking that the Muscle Bands might not be necessary in here, and am thinking about dropping them for some more draw/search. Maybe an extra Letter and the 4th N? Or the 2nd Super Rod? I figure I'm going to lose Pokemon quite easily and quickly with this deck, given that the Basics are really quite weak. I'd like to get a dedicated Starter Pokemon in there, but I know that there's only around a 30-40% chance that I'll start with it with 8 other Basic Pokemon I'd need to have. I'm really most concerned with Speed and Consistency at this point, and I'll worry about TecH later in the build process, though I figured having 1 spot for a Tool Scrapper would always help given that I'm in Garbage City up here.

Thoughts? Ideas? Thanks for the help!

I might increase it by one, and start testing from there. What do you suggest taking out?

This looks like a tough deck. Mind if I go up against it on a Skype battle? :) I use Samurott. Real rules will not apply, however my cards in my deck are HGSS and up

Nice im working on the same deck...i would add one or two more professor letter, add 2 or 3 more water energy, consider an evosoda or two and probably add in shauna

I think you need some supplemental draw support, such as Electrode or Delphox. In the Mid/late game when your deck is mostly energy, you are gonna want ways to refill your hand to maximize your damage output each turn. The pokemon line I've been using is 4-2-4 Kingdra, 3-1-3 Greninja, 2-2 Electrode and 1 Mime. Seems to work pretty well.

Also the new Voltorb is an ok wall to hide behind, since it will be quite a few turns before your field is fully developed. The extra damage can be v. nice.

3-4 Superior Energy Retrieval is a must in here to refuel your ammo with Greninja's Water Shuriken since it's the closest thing to Fisherman we have in this format and you can make up for discarding 2 cards in hand to get back 4 :water: energies from your Discard Pile with Tropical Beach.
