Offensive deck title?

So I have a decklist for Plasma Storm and I want to title the decklist Klinklang Klan. Is this going to get me in trouble? It has no significance and I mean nothing by it. It just flows well and makes sense. I'll be using 2 different Klinklang in the deck and I want it to be catchy.

If you're aware that it could possibly cause some offensive, then why use it?

Not everyone who sees it is going to know you well enough to realise you 'don't mean anything by it'. They will just see it and react.

Why risk upsetting someone for the sake of giving a Pokemon deck a catchy name?

What you call your deck in private is your business.

If you post in a forum, you should abide by the forum rules.

A good rule of thumb is: if it feels controversial, it probably is.

In the end, if it becomes an archetype the "crowd" will decide what the deck is called. Better names will stick, other names will fall by the wayside.
RayEels became RayEels for whatever reason and no one refers to that deck as EelQuaza or RayTrik or Thunder Muscle. Everyone remembers LuxChomp, not Mindless Self Indulgence or Lady GaGa.

If you are looking for alternate names for your Klinklang deck, may I suggest Clan with a C as to not draw association with that Triple K Group? Or perhaps Klinklang Gang? Or Klinklang Soul Train?

What's wrong with just giving it an informative title without trying to make a spectacle out of it? It's a deck, not a painting or a pet. It doesn't need a flashy name. It's not a work of art, it's a tool. To a point. Obviously a lot of effort goes into building a deck, but not a lot of people "enjoy" that effort, the build a specific person makes is rarely a big deal to the majority, so a name is mostly used by the creator and pretty much nobody else anyway, which renders it kind of pointless.

As a user who once had a very bad username, I'd say if you are in doubt as to whether something is in bad taste or could get you in trouble, why do it?

On a side note, I did simply, immaturily chuckle at the name.

The point is making your deck sound as powerful and legit as possible, without making it too boring. For example, Keldeo/Blastoise is a nice name, but I'd feel a lot better telling my opponent that I play Raging Deluge, or even Rushing Deluge of Destruction.

If you don't feel like naming your deck anything special, then just call it whatever you want. It doesn't technically matter, but you'd sound a lot cooler winning a tournament with Rushing Deluge of Destruction or Hammers of Darkness (Darkrai/Hammers) :thumb:

see it is pretty funny! and that's the kind of humor I have outside of forums. I'll ask my local card shop owner if he would ban some one for that name

Is that even the point though? So what if the owner won't ban you? I don't get why you want to run the risk of seriously offending someone who doesn't share your 'sense of humour'. Not everyone is going to find references to murdering racist hate groups quite as hilarious as you seem to.

Unless you win worlds with a deck, which you won't be playing klinklang, it won't matter.

In that case, go ahead.

I doubt anyone is truly offended by the name. Most people I've encountered admit to ACTING offended for the attention and just to get someone in trouble. With over half of my family being African American and also thinking it's hilarious, leads me to believe it is funny and not just my crude sense of humor. However I will refrain from posting the name on this sight. I still laugh at the sound of Klinklang Klan... lol...
