Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Official Mario Kart 7 Thread! Wifi Community: Mario Kart 7 Tournament!

Ughhh, so frustrated. For one, I've been using the Gyro controls for days on end, trying to earn the Gold wheel, at which point I'm going to abandon it and go back to preferred controls. But I've played well over 100 races and I STILL don't have it! I've forgotten a couple of times about using Gyro control, but I should still have well over 80% gyro. So why haven't I got it yet?? Also, is it permanent? If not, this whole thing was for nothing.

Another thing, almost every race I've played in the last few days over Wi-fi I've been last place, because within 30 seconds of snagging first, bang, blue shell. Hit once, then tumble off a cliff because of it and lose most of my coins. Not to mention getting hit from all the Stars. I'm about ready to snap my game card in half.

I mean, for petes sake, I have over 9000 VR on the Wii version.

lol Get a good item (and hope no one gets the lightning bolt), hang around 2nd or 3rd and then steal first yourself just before the end of the race. I've had people just stop in their tracks when they see a player in the back with the blue shell.

I've had a fairly harsh run today aswell...In one lap I was hit by a blue shell twice. I find it manditory in a close race to always watch your opponent's item boxes and make sure you slow down / stop so that you're not in first when it hits. This can backfire of course by everyone passing you and the shell still hitting you :/

What I find more annoying is having a good race only to be hit by a rogue green turtle and star'd a couple times droping you from 2nd to 8th.

As for gyro controlls I honestly have no idea, I think you might need to earn a star rank in each of the grand prixs (all 32 of them) specifically using the gyro.

Edit: I'm online now if anyone would like to join me

I think it targets whoever was first at the time it was released.

It's annoying how green shells always seem to find me. Just as bad is when the AIs seemingly have perfect aim.

It does, which is why you have to watch when your opponents have it. Sometimes it isn't thrown immediately and you're able to fall back into second or thrid.

One race in particular I was going back and forth with someone from Japan all race and we had a pretty sizable lead. With both saw the blue turtle and stopped long enough for third place to catch up and get hit

haha tell me about it.

Nope, not true, at least for me. When I see someone using thier blue shell, If possible I slow down and let the other person go ahead of me. When the blue shell first appears on the screen, it still is selecting a target. But once it gets about another 30% of the way up, you're dead if you're first.

I'm waiting in the room right now, Ill wait until 9 PST before leaving.

also Deoxys Cool Form please remember that Maku Waka (the shortcut course) isn't allowed unless picked by random, I noticed you picking it a few times in the world room ;-)

Sorry about that :p

So to clear things up, if the map is chosen by random, we can use the shortcut? We just can't vote for it?

This is really fun by the way, certainly makes the game more enjoyable!

I'd vote yes, just because there's always going to be someone who takes the shortcut (just by virtue of forgetting its not world ranks)

Maybe with the SwapNote feature, it will maybe encourage more people to play with us. I also think we should all have a Skype account, so we can chat on there as well. Mike seems to be the only person that I play with and my record with him right now is 53-46. Compare that to everyone else's scores where the scores are typically 4-6, 2-1, 3-0 type of thing.

This just shows how active everyone is on the site...

More like 53 (me) - 57 (you) ;-)

Ive actually played against random people online more frequently then I've played against most of you =P

I conqure about skype....theres nothing like winning a race againt Ricky by a hair only to laugh at him on facebook about it XD

:pokeball: :pokeball: :pokeball: Power Ranking :pokeball: :pokeball: :pokeball: 5 players As of 12/23/11

1st. JPN Gallade (Sky)
2nd. Chompy (Ricky)
3rd. Sdrawkcab (Mike)
4th. nnaann (Nathan)
5th. Deoxys Cool Form (Samuel)

Inactive

Mildcat
redwater
redseasunderredskies

Instead of basing off how many points a player has, i'm going to base the rankings, based off of my judgement. By judgement, I mean determining who's been winning the most games consistently, most losses, who's been active or inactive. The ranking list will change once a month, and we will still be doing the community room on Fridays! As far as the community ruleset goes, I want the results of who got the highest score, so I can have a better judgement of who's the best player.

For example, my score would be with Sky is 14-6, so I would multiply the number of wins by 3 and see how many points it turns out to be.

Sky: 14x3= 42
Ricky: 6x3= 18

It's quite clear from that score difference that Sky is a better player than me at this point because of that huge score difference.

1st. JPN Gallade (Sky): There is no contest when it comes to this game. It's quite clear that your much better than me and sdrawkcab (Mike), your active, and you play the game 24/7. Although, he does get very lucky when it comes to getting the items are the right moment. No matter what situation he's in, the game always seems to favor him. Also, he memorized every shortcut possible and used that to his advantage. Rarely does he ever fall off the course. Non the less, he's a good solid player overall.

2nd. Chompy (Ricky): Wins most of his games against several opponents. Although, gets clumsy by accidentally falling off the stage, and banana blitzing. The one thing he does have is he knows how to use the items wisely. With everyone else, his records are no contest, except for sdrawkcab and Sky. Sky seems to be on the one person that gets in his way of achieving that 1st prize. Will Chompy ever overcome Sky?

3rd. Sdrawkcab (Mike): Very clever player when it comes to his items. Purposely falls off the course in the hopes that he pulls off a good item to catch up. Although, falling behind may come to haunt him. Like Sky, he does play the game 24/7 if you notice his VR score (5500), which is very high. Attends to the community tournaments every week, gives Chompy a good run for his money, but fails to even compete against Sky unfortunately.

4th. nnaann (Nathan): Knows how to drift left and right really well, takes shortcuts whenever he has the opportunity to take it, and plays a good solid game. The only thing I would like too see is nnaann being more active on Mario Kart as well as being active in the game. Although, the time zone different could be the reason why he hasn't been able to play against other players in the U.S/Canada as much. One of the reasons I decided to place nnaann in 4th is because he often beats Sdrawkcab (from what I heard). Again, he needs to play more often on Wi-Fi, so I can get a better feel of who's better, nnaann or sdrawkcab.

5th. Deoxys Cool Form: Good player, but he always picks on Maka Wuhu and wins on that stage. However, if he's playing a different course, he's pretty much doomed from the very getco. Another thing I would like too see is DCF being more active and not quit when he losses...

I'd just like to say something quick. If I vote Maka Wuhu (which I haven't since Sdrawkcab asked me not to) people have also used the shortcut with me, and while at the time it may have been cheap, people still had a chance to beat me because they would copy me.

Also, if I vote for the course, with 8 people online, chances are slim that I'll get my course. So if I do bad on every other race, how come my records are -

4-3 to Chompy
1-0 to Barb
10-6 to Sdrawkcab
53-48 to nnaann
3-3 to Sky
3-1 to Lauren

If anything, I should be number 1 because I don't have any bad records! Not last place with not one bad record?

So that's a load of rubbish lol

What really annoyed me was when you said I quit when I lose. I have never quit when I lose (and if that's the case, why are my records perfect?) I do get kicked a lot because of my bad internet, but it only happens on average every 5 games. Ask nnaann, he'll back this up.

Looks like you need to change the rankings.

I'm sorry, but that post annoyed me based on how untrue it was

I've devised a ranking system, based just on head to head records between individual players. As a tiebreaker to decide the better player between two or more people with an equal score, I've taken into account how one sided or tight their head to head records were. So for example, a 39-12 record is considered superior to a 11-7 one.

I should also say that this system doesn't take into account how active players are, but it's important everyone plays each week, to give an opportunity for people to improve on their previous rankings. Taking that into account, only active players from that month will be included in it's rankings.

A superior head to head record (S) gives +1 point, an even head to head record (D) +0 and an inferior head to head record (I) -1.

Based on this, the rankings currently are:

1 - Samuel/Deoxys Cool Form: 3S + 1D = +3

2 - Sky/JPN Gallade: 2S + 1D + 1I = +1

3 - Ricky/Chompy: 2S + 2I = +0

4 - Nathan/nnaann: 2S + 2I = +0 (Loses tiebreaker to Chompy)

5 - Mike/Sdrawkcab: 4I = -4

As we play regularly, these power rankings should have a lot of opportunities to change, especially since most of the head to head records are really close. For example, Sky only needs to beat Samuel once and myself twice to quadruple his score from +1 to +4 and take the top spot.

Actually, I just checked my record against you on online play, and it actually says that with you, I'm 4-3 (my favor), so you might want to double check on that.

Our internet connection can cut out sometimes, and when it happens, we're replaced by a computer for the rest of that race (meaning we usually end up losing it). When we're cut off, that race isn't counted towards our head to head records, but it does for the other person. That's why a few of our records are slightly different to what other people might see on their game.
