First the rotate early, now EX's are coming back. I think Pokemon may be reading my mind. Either that, or it's inception and I'm dreaming all over again.

"New “Battle Strength Decks” featuring Reshiram EX and Zekrom EX will be released on October 21st for 1680 yen each. Each deck contains 60 cards and both a holo and non-holo version of their respective EX card."

Non-holo EX's?

Maybe they are just going to make EX regular rares as well. That, or it's a completely new mechanic... which seems like a strange idea.

You are actually 3 levels down, sorry....

Anyway, the card game is going for a major reboot now just like Black and White and same as game, expect next rotation to be Call-on, sounds weird, or BW-on.

Nah matey, don't say a thing about rotation yet. Doesn't concern us for some time. I think they aren't going to rotate that much anyways.

Just got thinking. Reshiram and Zekrom have 130HP and are basics. EX's are much more awesome versions of the regulars that drop two prizes. So like 160HP basics with better attacks? Holy Cow.

not POP again!! they were almost imposible to pull.

Seriously guys, the format is not coming back to the good old days of RS-on, HL-on and DX-on.

Aerodactyl maybe returns, Rocket's Admin returns and Pokémon Ex maybe return. That doesnt change anything. What was great about the game back then was the balance between HP and attacks. Magma did 3 for 70 and was the best deck around - fun to play with and against it. Dark Dragonite didnt OHKO anything, neither did RockLock or MewTrick.

As long as we have 1 for 60, 3 for 90 (or 120) and other ridiculous power creep, the format wont be healthy. When HGSS came out, I thought that maybe we were toning the creep down (cept for Donphan, of course) but it seems that the desire to sell more packs by printing more and more ridiculous cards is way stronger then the desire for a healthy format.

I shudder to think what power creep will these new Pokemon EX bring. We dont need these gimmicks, we need 3 for 60 to be the standard again and we need Pokémon to actually survive an attack. With Catcher on the horizon, I dont envision HGSS-on to be the saviour people thought it to be.

I got out of the game just before the Pokemon-ex first came out and now it looks like I'm getting back in at the right time. Hopefully they'll be making this similar to those cards, I'm not that familiar with the old ones but it did look like a very fun format to play back then. Looks to be exciting going forward.

It's like Lv.X's never existed. Primes and ex's just running together... I got into the competitive game just as ex's were rotated, so I never played against them. This is gonna be wild.

Me to, but it is not fun to see the OHKO posts , I wished I had played when OHKOs was rare.
I am currently on the Kuyrem hype train myself.

???

Archeops (if its Ability is correct) hits Zekrom's weakness, completely disrupts Emboar decks by stopping evolutions, and probably has a fighting resistance which is great against Donphan. I don't even need to talk about Rocket's Admin or Pokemon ex; that one card seems destined to change everything. Power creep (more HP, more damage output) is only important relative to the format. I'm not sure how much I would like "Prehistoric Power" in the game, but to say it doesn't change anything when it clearly affects the biggest decks in the game right now is not very reasonable.

As far as older decks, Dark Dragonite managed OHKO's with Rocket's Sneasel ex (30+10 for each Dark Pokemon in play with added damage from Special Dark). Rock Lock and Mewtric both had entirely different strategies, but OHKO's were still part of the game back then with decks like Metanite and LBS. The thing about those old formats is that numerous strategies were available. It looks like Red Collection is geared towards giving the game multiple strategies (Hydreigon spread, Haxorus weakness-free, Fliptini, Lockeops). I welcome the "strategy creep."

Also, if the EX Pokemon have increased HP, doesn't that just mean that OHKO's won't happen as much anyway?

Posted with a lingering concern for Pokemon Catcher

I'm more angry that DCE is being reprinted. Again. Wasn't it broken enough the first two times around?

Certain reprints are fine by me. Juniper is Oak with restrictions. Junk Arm is Item Finder with restrictions. Reversal and ER2 are reasonably balanced, even if I hate coin flips with the burning firy passion of a thousand suns.

DCE is not balanced in the slightest. Catcher/GOW is not balanced in the slightest.

Where's my nice, slow, evolution-based game, TPC? I wanna struggle to get my evos out by turn 3 and have that considered "fast" by format standards! These quick games are testing my patience...

I think DCE is fine, especially with Lost Remover as an option. I don't really see any decks abusing DCE anyway, so it doesn't look to be that problematic. It should go without saying, of course, that Garchomp X just abused the heck out of that card, but there aren't any cards that interact with DCE like Garchomp did.

The only thing I like about Catcher is the fact that you know exactly what's going to happen when you play it. I've always disliked Reversal for the flip, but Catcher is guaranteed. Plus, everyone gets to play it. In a way, however, the abuse of Catcher does come down to a flip, since whoever goes first gets the advantage of Catcher'ing up Pokemon to KO before the opponent.

I think Pokemon Catcher may actually be the first card I would be glad to see us not get that Japan currently has. I've always believed our version of the Pokemon TCG should be the same as what Japan has, but for Catcher I would gladly entertain an exception.

Oh man, now I am actually excited. Return of Rocket's Admin...with a new name. This year will be a lot more than interesting.
