Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

OREGON State Championships - March 12, 2011

I thought so but didn't wanna butcher it

I went 8/0 then played shuppet donk and lost top 16...least my bf won

Props to everyone!!!

Thanks to everyone for making the 2011 Oregon State Championships the best event we've ever had in Oregon!!! We had so many great things going on all day, including our mega-raffle.
Congratulations to the winners:
  • Pokemon BLACK version DS game - Michelle A.
  • Pokemon WHITE version DS game - Braidy A.
  • Full Box (36 Boosters) Black & White set - Donna B.
  • Worlds 2010 Prize Pack including a Play Mat, Cap and other Worlds 2010 items - Amelia B. who generously gave it to Kenny W.
  • Pokemon Banner - Ellis R.
Our staff made this an organizers dream, and I have some MAJOR props to give out:
  • The setup crew who made the room look amazing and had everything down by 10:00 PM
  • The judges who ran a very smooth-fair-fast event
  • The side event staff who had something for everyone to do all day long
  • Team Rocket who ran a GREAT DS tournament
  • The stage crew who is the heart of any great event because they keep the tournament moving along, collect all the information on winners, get all the prizes out and really make a TO's life at BIG events so much less stressful
  • The 318 players who for my money are the best in the world - you guys exemplify "Spirit of the Game"!
  • Terry and David, the WA PTOs, who are running WA States next weekend but devoted so many hours to making Oregon States successful
  • Mr. Raichu and momma_june who make Pokemon one of the most rewarding experiences in my life
  • ... and to Susan (Mrs. BDS) who not only puts up with me devoting hundreds of hours to Pokemon, filling the living room with product and tournament supplies throughout the year and being away from home almost half of the weekends in the year, but who also comes to States and Regionals and runs what I think is the BEST Pokemon store out there and then turns around and prepares dinner for the staff!

I got home at about 1:45AM last night, so I am going to have a Snorlax nap right now, but THANK YOU everyone!!! SEE YOU ALL AT REGIONANLS ON APRIL 16TH - AND REMEMBER, BRING A FRIEND.

Just wanna say...that 'horrible and overteched' scizor list everyone made fun of just won OR states

Mad props. I was pretty hard on it. Awesome job proving all of us haters wrong. I do love a good underdog story. From now on, jerin shall be known as rudy

I stopped making fun of rogue decks when one of them took second at worlds, this was after months of it beating me.

Let that be a lesson to all of you =P

You asked, this is all I know:

Seniors:

1st: Olliver
2nd Steven C. from Corvallis

Thank you everyone, for a fun Oregon States tourney.

I want to thank all the kids, big and little, that came over for the side events. Wait until you see the colored pictures and the playdough sculptures these kids made. I'll post photos soon.

I enjoyed working with Terry and Rose and all of Team Rocket. My favorite quote from the day: "Team Rocket is suppose to be bad, but they really are very helpful." in reference to them working the DS tournament.

Thanks, BDS and team for those super-cool -handmade poison counters!
I made some new friends during the day. At Regionals I'll show up with loaves of bread and PB & J for all those staying late to cheer on the finalists.

Until next time. . . .

I want to say a huge thank you to the staff! They did an amazing job of running the event, it was as smooth as silk! We were
able to bring 17 of us southern oregon players up and we all had an amazing time, thank you!!

Yeah they was the best. Had so much fun got to meet some legends, I wont name drop...*cough's Chris and Richard Cough's* For being a complete noob ( about 2 months ) and 1st event I placed 61 out of 133 in division. Most the time I was in the top 32 tables and was 32nd till last match, and when I lost it bumped me down to 61st. But it was the most fun I've had in a long time. Can't wait till regional's.

Way to go Team Phoenix games

I am so pleased that our Pokémon Gym did so well this year at Oregon States. We had two players place in juniors. Cade in T4 and Ian taking first place with an undefeated day. And we had 3 masters players in the T16. Jaron went 8-0 in Swiss before falling to the Curse of the first in T16 (Now you know how I feel when the same thing happened to me in Washington states two years ago) I survived until Top 8 where I lost to our 3rd league member in the top cut Jerin who went on to win our first ever Masters Title in a State Championship (See Jerin I kept telling you that you should play your Scizor deck, although you were not supposed to beat me with it )

And special props to my daughter Sarah who had her first ever winning states record at 4-3. She went 4-1 and dropped her final two games. But we are very proud of her for making quite a fantastic showing for a 7 year old.

Our overall league attendance was down a bit this year but we still had 3 junior players and 7 masters players make the trip taking home two 1st place Medals, a 4th place medal and a T8 and T16 finish.
