Just chipping in to say don't feel weird. Just unfortunate you don't live in an area with a handful of older players. My location, we have plenty of 20+ as well as 40+ players that all enjoy each others company. In this community, I'm pretty sure no one looks at another and thinks, "why are you here?". I've yet to experience that anyways.

Hopefully some older individuals join you or see you there and drop by themselves.

Yeah, there is no shame. At my league in Vegas, we have a father/son team. The son is in his final year as a senior this year and was a worlds qualifier last year, and the dad plays very well also, actually making a cut last year at Regionals. Both love the game, and I guarantee the father wouldn't be playing if it wasn't for his son. Sharing a hobby is probably the best thing in the world and I am sure your kids will enjoy the time with you!

Just adding my voice to the others; I'm myself a dad (3 boys playing, aged between 10 and 16). I've played a couple of years ago and started again this year when my youngest showed some interest in the game.

I'm not trying to build a league and most of the kids that comes have a parent that plays as well. It really is fun for them to play with their dad (and they'll be competitive trying to beat them! ;) )

So, yes, it's good!

I was rewatching the 2011 Pokemon Nationals and the winning kid played with his father. As in they played league together, built decks together, etc. In the tournament they even used the same deck just to see who would get further! The kid won and his father got top 16. They both loved it and I'd say that's one of the best bonding times you can get.

Just giving more awesome examples of parents making a strong duo :D

By all means jump in and play with your kids. My wife and I started playing as Adults when the game first came out. In 2003 we started a Leauge when our daughter was 6 months old. She grew up with this game and now she is in her final year of Juniors and not only qualified for her first worlds appearance, but is off to play in Nationals with my wife this weekend while I stay home with our 10 month old son. I cant wait until he can start playing himself in another 4-5 years.

Pokémon is an AWESOME shared family experience. I can honestly tell you I never would have met so many wonderful people that I consider to be friends if it was not for this game. So go ahead and build and play with your kids (and the collecting aspect is major fun as well) you will not be disappointed.
