Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Phione/Claydol: GREAT for the game!

Pachi will still see more play than Phione. Until celios goes out of format. Once that happens i reckon phione will take over.

Welcome back, to the same old place that you laughed about.

Neither news nor gossip, moving to strategy.

Psychic Lock holding the format down? Can't use Powers? Wait til Aerodactyl shows up to punish us for breaking out of Psychic Lock; it'll stack, so two on the bench will get the Claydols after two Cosmic Powers. What other cards will show up to make us wish we never saw a Power?

Then, with Omastar's Power, we're going to get the return of a pretty good lock deck. Better have Phione.

Phenomenal Cosmic Power, itty-bitty living space.
--Aladdin, reflecting on Claydol's feelings after Aerodactyl

In DP5 of the Japanese set there is an Armaldo which blocks attacks which do 60 damage or less. THis should be fun against gallade and he has got an amazing 140 Hp.

with call energy i think that traditional starters will take a back seat for a while... although i like the ability to have a sentret with call for family!!!!

OBJECTION!

YOUR OBJECTION IS DENIED. IF YOU ARE DISAGREEING WITH BIG CHUCK, YOU ARE WRONG.
I agree though, those two cards in this format means that decks will have a massive consistancy boost, and that we can see stage two decks that AREN'T GG in the format.

o....................... k................................. wierd.................................................

anyways, I hope the new TM card comes as it's the exact same as phione: just a thought, but that might be better for non-water decks (just put one on a pachi and you've got a hybrid of the two right there... :thumb:)

I'm glad to see Phione/Claydol in for format right now. Like Jirachi HL/Pidgeot, they allow for basically any stage 2 line to be consistant, which will make for numerous playable decks, as opposed to just GG and Magmortar at the begining of the season. Any deck running 4 Phione, 2-2 Claydol, and 4-2-4 of any stage 2 line will be fast, consistant, and have a chance of overpowering Gallade late game when all the prizes are flipped (Psy lock and Cross Cut for 60 wont cut it vs most stage 2s). Look for a large variety of decks at nats this year!

Fully agree, Chuck. I can already see it now after the rotation...

4 Phione (4 Call Energy)
2-2 Claydol
3-1-3 Empoleon
2-1-2 Omastar (heck, maybe 3-1-3 or 3-2-3)

*drools*

The TM scan is from the next Japanese set, meaning we will probably not get it til after worlds.

either way, Phione + Pachi (as one pokemon) = AWESOME (set up, then evolve....)

I forgot to metion that your post on the top of this page should say "Overruled" but whatever...

I really don't know if I want to rely on having a Phione AND a Call Energy in my opening hand. When you play a max of 4 each, what are the chances of getting both consistently? Just think about how often you get an opening hand without a starter. Something like 4/2 Pachirisu/Phione would be much more consistent, so much so it is worth taking the extra deck space.

I personally think the play is 4 Phione + trainers/supporters to get out the basics. Pachi-retreat-Phione just seems like it would take too long + the bench fill factor...

There will be far too much Dusknoir to afford playing Phione and Pachirisu. I'd rather play Balls/Mentor than be limited to building up 1 Pokemon (assuming Pachirisu/Phione is active and one is on the bench, and Claydol on the bench).

^ The new Dusknoir's power goes: flip a coin, if heads look at your opponent's hand and discard a Pokemon from it (I think), and the attack is PPC 70 heal 20 from Dusknoir and move it to one of your opponent's bench.
