Pichu's "Playground"

Okay, so here's the scenario:

It's my opponent's turn and he/she uses Pichu's(from HGSS) "Playground" attack and I decide to bench a Yanma. Does that mean that after his/her attack I can evolve that Yanma, as technically it was benched during there turn? Any help is appreciated.

There's nothing technical about it.
The Pokemon was played during their turn.
You can evolve it on your turn.

Note: You still can't evolve on your first turn.
Just because a Pokemon came into play in an odd way doesn't change that rule.
