Pinsir 1st edition Error

Have any of you guys seen this Pinsir error? I, initially, thought just my Pinsir was like this due to a factory defect, but it seems there are more out there with the EXACT defect. It almost seems like an intentional design that they eventually decided against.

It looks like a tear to me, not a misprint.

It is in fact a misprint . . . I have 3 or 4 like this myself. As far as rarity/value, they seem relatively common

It looks like the card is just torn so you can see the holofoil underneath. The scratches on the holo make that the more plausible answer.

Hey Scott, check this out. I have a few others, but as you can see this could only be from a production misprint since the mark is exactly the same on numerous copies. The card on the right is in mint condition otherwise . . .

No, I just sort of amassed them over the years from various bulk purchases. They seem to be fairly common, I always assumed it was just some mass production misprint. The weird thing is the part where the holofoil is showing still has the glossy surface finish; it looks completely normal.

Wow, that's very cool. I am never seen that before. I would say its not a common error, but definitely much more rarer than you think

I have two as well. I have seen this kind of mark on Dark Dugtrio holos and a few others:
