To those who have purchased HGSS: Legend boxes, did you get both halves of either Lugia or Ho-oh to one box? Was there only one half per box? Just curious...thanks!

I talked to someone who bought the legend boxes during the prerelease last weekend. You only get one set per box. Both halves of a set will come from 1 booster pack.
One set of legend has lugia and the other has ho-oh.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

You will also get 3-4 GREAT pokemon card per box. Some of them might be reverse holo.

Wait, so one random booster pack in every box has BOTH pieces? That's icky IMHO.

I don't know how you figure, as you have to have both halves to play the card, and I can think of very few reasons to not run an even amount of the two halves in your deck, so it seems better that they put them in the same pack.

EDIT: Just think if same kid opened a pack and got half of Lugia Legend and was like, YES I GOT A LUGIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! oh wait i can't play it........ :(

Yeah, I get that. But that one single pack in every box is very very lucky.

How so? It's the same in theory as pulling a * pokemon back in the days of the EX sets.

But this is two cards. Two physical cards. Yeah, you need both to play it, but you need multiple Arceus too, and you don't get 2 of those in 1 pack.

That's entirely different. You are not able to play Lugia or Ho-oh LEGEND at all without having both halves. Arceus can be played without multiples, but it takes multiples for a competitive deck to be built with it. You could argue that Lv. X's should be packaged like this, but even then the non Lv. X of a card is playable without the Lv. X. With LEGENDs you are required by the rules to have both halves; they are literally useless by themselves.

Right. So why not split the two halves and make people buy more packs?
