Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Pokémon CaC Contest: Constant Expansions - Second Round Begins! Cards due June 21!!!

Ah! Since my semester is already over, it's easy for me to forget that many people's classes end later. My apologies for my impatience.

Smeargle LV.X -90-HP [C]
LEVEL-UP Put onto Smeargle

Picture: We see a Smeargle from close-up holding his tail in his right paw/hand. His head is sticking out of the top-right corner of the frame and his tail is swung out of the picture at the left side of the frame by a sweeping movement of Smeargles arm. With that sweep he has painted an 'S' on the the 'camera' of slightly glowing multi-colored paint. The paint is dripping down the 'camera' out of the bottom side of the frame. The background is very dark with trails of glowing paint over the floor. Smeargle is looking at you from the picture and he has a mischievous grin on its face.

[Poké-POWER] Find Inspiration
Once during your turn (before your attack), you may draw a card. If that card is an Energy card, you may attach that card to Smeargle. If that card is not an Energy card, discard that card.

[.] Random Doodle
Your opponent must call a number from 1 to 10. Flip a coin. If heads, this attack does 10 damage times the number your opponent called to the Defending Pokémon. If tails, this attack does 10 damage times the number your opponent called to Smeargle LV.X.

[C][C][C] Masterpiece
Discard all Energy cards attached to Smeargle LV.X. Take a Prize card.

Level X rule: Put this card onto your active Smeargle. Smeargle LV.X can use any attack, Poké-Power, or Poké-Body from its previous level.

Weakness: [F]x2
Resistance: None
Retreat Cost: [C]

Random Doodle is worthless, as your opponent could just say 1, and you have a half chance of doing 10 damage, and if that isn't bad enough, you could do it to yourself instead. Just taking a Prize card... isn't very creative.

You never mentioned that you have to show the drawn card to your opponent, as you would have to do to verify that it is an Energy card if you wish to leave it in your hand.

Poké-Body : Reversing Shadow
As long as Darkrai is your Active Pokemon, whenever your Benched Pokémon would be damaged by an opponent's attack, flip a coin. If heads, put the damage counters on the attacking Pokémon instead.

[D][C] Spreading Hole
Put 2 damage counters on 3 of your opponent's Benched Pokémon.

[D][D][C] Falling Night 60
Discard an energy attached to the Defending Pokémon.

why do lvl x need a flovour text.. all the previous don't have them

They don't need it; Charmander Rox's first grade sheet commented that Flavor Text was "Not applied to Pokémon LV.X." It's just part of the grade sheet, so they put it on there anyway. If you notice, there are no points taken off of the total for the 0 in Flavor Text.

I fully respect the grading that was given for my card, but I would like to share my vision on some of parts of the card.

You say that random doodle is worthless, because if you even everything out it would do an average of 0 damage... But in my opinion it is a strategical attack that adds an exciting angle to the card. Your opponent has the rather tempting chance to OHKO Smeargle LV.X and it requires some thought what number to call. Maybe Smeargle has less HP than the Defending Pokemon so your opponent will call a lower number, or maybe smeargle has 1 energy attached (1 of which is [L]) and the defending pokemon is a Palkia G.The opponent will be in quite a dilemma to take this possible chance to knock out Smeargle LV.X and risk the possible damage, or to face the likely unslaught that Smeargle will wreck on his next turn. Of course when to use this attack is essential to its succes and that is, in my opinion, its beauty....and if nothing else, it atleast is an attack that smeargle can risk to use when he is stripped from energy....

Could you say why you think" just taking a Prize card" isn`t creative, because I don`t know another card with such an attack...

I agree 100% with the rest (I should have thought of that showing to your opponent line..) I do not mean this as criticism on the grading and I`m fine with the fact that the grading won`t change... I just wanted to explain my choices....

Thanks for reading...

Since I'm a bit bored and Super Wooper Trooper is making comments about his card, I'll ask him...If Smeargle happens to be a Fighting type at the time (through the Power of his Lv 36 form) does he take weakness for his own Random Doodle attack? (maybe he's attacking Darthpika's Raichu Lv X )

If so, that is another possible reason why the opponent (DarthPika in the example) might choose a higher number...(or at least the lower number would have greater effect.)

Well, I haven`t added "don`t apply weakness and resistance for attacks done to Smeargle LV.X" so I guess it does...but maybe I should have added that.... (lol my grading should have been lower..:lol:)

The card is just so versatile....

Don't worry, I'll try to finish judging today.

Grimer Lv. 23 (P)
60 HP
Basic Pokémon

PIC: Grimer is seen in a grove of trees, running to the bottom left-hand corner of the frame. In the top corner of the frame, a Lucario is running in the opposite direction and trying to wipe an unidentifyable green goo from it's eyes. Grimers arms are extended as are the elbows of Lucario. The scene is at night and is done in a clean, campy style.

PokéBODY: Mimic

If the Defending Pokémon would be placed on your opponent's bench, you may switch Grimer with one of your benched Pokémon.

The Defending Pokémon is now Poisoned.

Muk Lv. X (P)
120 HP
Lv. X Pokémon (Place on your Active Muk)

PIC: Muk's purple "body" is oozing out of the frame and is actually covering the top edge of the Lv. X rules reminder text frame (and bleeds a bit onto the top of the text as well). Muk is also reaching out of the frame through the right frame as though signaling he is coming for you. The background is black and the holofoil design is done with yellow zig-zags, as though lightning were flashing behind Muk as he Leveled Up.

PokéPOWER: The Ancient Connection

Once during your turn, before you attack, you may change Muk's type to (G). You can't use this Power if Muk is affected by a Special Condition.

PokéBODY: Toxic Assets

If Muk damages the Defending Pokémon while (G)-type, the Defending Pokémon is now Poisoned.

(**): Drag Down (30x)

This attack does 30 damage times the number of (*) it would cost to retreat the Defending Pokémon.

Weakness: (P) x2

Retreat: (**)

The only explanation I feel I need to give here is the inclusion of 3 abilities on my Level X. Originally the Power and Body were one Power but since the last half of the Power functioned as a Body and both were short enough, I felt safe in using three static abilities there. Hope you enjoy!

For Random Doodle, you wouldn't use it because it gives a strategical advantage to YOUR OPPONENT, not to you. Your opponent gets to weight the risks, while you have to take it. If you are attacking a Pokémon with little HP left, your opponent could say "9", so even though your opponent is almost dead and you have no damage, both of you could die from one of YOUR attacks. It's worse than Magikarps attack (whatever it was called) 10: Flip a coin. If tails, this attack does nothing.

As far as the prize card, I've seen it on a lot of CaC cards, but not real cards, FOR A REASON.

Oh, and could you please use ' instead of ` for your apostraphes? It's supposed to be '. It's really hard to read when it has `instead. It takes up more space.

I'll try using ' more often but I really got used to ` so sorry if that pops up once in a while....

Budew Lv 6 Hp 40 [G]
Basic Pokémon

Poké-Power: Baby Pokémon
Once during your turn (before you attack), you may put Roselia from your hand onto Budew (this counts as evolving Budew) and remove all damage counters from Budew.

[G][G] Repeat Absorb
Move a number of damage counters from Budew to the Defending Pokémon up to the number of [G] Energy cards attached to Budew.

Weakness: [R] +10
Resistance:
Retreat: [C]

Picture: Budew is bouncing along happily through a grassland on a sunny day. There is little else to note about the picture.

Tect: Virtually all of Budew's attacks inflict status or steal HP. If not prepared for, it can be a difficult Pokémon to KO, especially for starting trainers with water Pokémon.

Roselia Lv 26 Hp 70 [G]
Basic Pokémon

Poké-Body: Grass Roots
If Budew is anywhere under Roselia, Roselia may use any of Budew's attacks, Poké-Powers, or Poké-Bodies as its own. Each of Budew's attacks cost [G] more to use.

[G][C] Anchor 30
Until the end of your next turn, the retreat cost of the Defending Pokémon is [C][C] more.

Weakness: [R] +20
Resistance:
Retreat: [C]

Picture: Roselia is staring at a picture of a Budew. It can be assumed that it is the Budew in the picture.

Tect: Roselia's assortment of grass-type attacks can make escaping it a difficult task. Being a Pokémon with considerable special attack, going offensive quickly is sound advice rather than failing a retreat.

Roserade Lv X Hp 110 [G]
Place onto Roserade

Poké-Body: Tied Knot
If either player wishes to retreat their Active Pokémon (except [G] Pokémon), the Energy discarded must be basic Energy of the same type as the Pokémon.

[G][C][C] Tie Up 50
Move one Energy card attached to the Defending Pokémon to one of your opponent's Benched Pokémon. Then, select one Energy card attached to one of your opponent's Benched Pokémon, and move it to the Defending Pokémon.

Weakness: [R] x2
Resistance: None
Retreat: [C]

Picture: Roserade is planting its arms into the ground and making many vines pop up on both sides of it. The vines extend outside the card image.

Ralts can constantly sense emotions of humans and other Pokémon. However, negative emotions confuse it.

Kirlia Lv. 22 80 HP

Picture: A Kirlia is dancing in the moonlight in a grassy field. A white fence can be seen in the distance, and purple flowers cover the ground. Kirlia's eyes are closed, and a pale silver aura is emanating from it.

(P) Psychic Gaze 20
The Defending Pokémon can't retreat during your opponent's next turn.

By dancing, Kirlia connects with all life around it. Because of this, when a Kirlia is disturbed by the sorrows of other Pokémon, it will often spontaneously begin dancing.

Weakness (P)+20 Resistance 0 Retreat Cost (C)

Picture: Gardevoir is staring directly forward, it's expression sad. It's hands are held upward, and are glowing violet. The background is a dark silvery-blue.

Poké-POWER Energy Cure
Once during your turn (before your attack), you may use this Power. Search your discard pile for an Energy card and attach it to one of your Pokémon with damage counters on it. Flip a coin. [Poké-Body] Battle Prowess
As long as Heracross is your Active Pokémon, whenever 1 of your opponent's Active Pokémon would become Benched during your opponent's turn, Heracross does 20 damage to it. This power stops working if Heracross is Asleep, Confused, or Paralyzed.

[F][G][C][C] Massive Throw 120-
