Pablo: You can't put the merits of the deck entirely in terms of the size of the tournaments they've won. You must also consider timing. Mewtric, when introduced, performed very well winning multiple Regionals and GCs. Mewlock, when introduced, also performed very well winning many GCs. Delta performed well at Nationals right after it was introduced; similarly with Queen and Worlds.

The point I'm trying to make is, the decks that were introduced did very well, but the height of their effectiveness was focused closely to the proximity to when they were introduced to the metagame.

Furthermore, far fewer players can effectively play decks like Mewlock and Mewtric as well as easier decks like Queen and Delta. Therefore many more players were using other decks at major tournaments; clearly number of players using said decks is something that must be considered, although I will concede that Queen did very well despite small numbers.

I agree Moss, Im just having fun with you, you guys are very good and have broken the format just twice this year which is impressive, and yeah the success of your decks has been all about timing, Im sure if Mynx or MewTric had been kept under the water until Nationals or Worlds one of you would probably be celebrating a Worlds 1st place or something like that.

E4 is taking open challenges at worlds to anyone who can get a team of 5. Fulop was telling me something about getting a 5 on 5 match going with Japans top 5. Lets see how that works out!
My money's on E-4.....
Rocketman

Uh yeah thats a joke
Here, we'll take 5 players who think theyre the best in America and play the top 5 from Japan. Real mature.

Mental Sport.
Hard to leave it at just a mental game, a tough event is as exhausting as any physical sport. Full day chess tournaments are the most exhausting things I've done and I've played many sports.

Yea, alright, try running for 4 hours with bricks in your hands to make the basketball team. Pokemon is a mental game, it's not nearly as exhausting as physical sports.

People can't read or understand definitions. Let them be. You can break through physical walls, but walls of ignorance are harder to get through.

Someone lock this thread, its purpose is lost, I am soooo sorry for putting the wrong word, I don't think it is a sport and this conversation should end.

Big Chuck - Heres a twin bill: Pokemon and a Caged Match. Let's see..... Tom D, A.J. D, Dave C III, Jimmy B, and I sounds like a good team. You might win pokemon, but the caged match will be a bit dicey........

Go to basketball conditionings and tryouts, then talk to me about chess being "the most exhausting thing ive ever done".

I mean, seriously. If you think chess is exhausting then I honestly feel bad for you.

Scott:

I'm pretty sure Tom D vs. the E4 is unfair, BUT ALL 5 of us?!?

I have played for a basketball team and still play for baseball teams and I know about exhausting practices. At the height of its exhaustion, you can be too tired to do anything but lie down, but at least you can still think straight. You play a 2 day, 5 game chess tournament with games up to 4 hours long and you'll find you not only want to lie down, but go to sleep as your mind is just so exhausted from looking at moves, calculating and calculating for hours at a time, you can't think straight. It takes so much out of you, perhaps try doing that before you assume physical sports are always more exhausting.
Pokemon will never be as exhausting as a 2 day chess tournament though. The games are shorter, play is faster and there's the luck elements from drawing etc., so there's not nearly the same looking ahead several moves like in chess. In Pokemon it's more like build as much as you can this turn with your supporter, then see what you draw next turn. There's usually only a couple situations per game that take a lot of thinking. Some long tournaments in Pokemon can be exhausting but Chess is on a different level.
