Pokemon Christmas songs in mah Pocket Monsters!?

Okay, so I was catching up on my Pokemon DP 'cause I stopped watching for a couple months. I got up to the Christmas 1 hour special and it was all good. SUDDENLY, during the give-away portion, they start playing "Pokemon Christmas Bash"! Now, at first, this doesn't seem like anything odd. I'm watching a Pokemon episode with a Christmas give-away at the end and I hear a Pokemon Christmas song. However, I'm watching it in Japanese and this several year old English Pokemon song just starts playing. You can imagine my suprise. Especially since it refers to the cast by their English names (it mentions Misty too, who hasn't been around for ages).

Actually, the entire first movie pop soundtrack was released in Japan in 2000 or 2001.

Freaky, huh? The Japanese are just weird like that.
