To clear things up a bit, this is based on a MTG variant format called type 4, not just regular cube draft which explains the infinite mana thing.

Kudos to Hatter for beating me to this topic. Some of my friends here in Ohio have been developing our own Cube, albeit with a few different varients:

1) Your point structure is interesting, but my friends enjoy doing regular drafting. So we have actually built full lines of cards into our Cube, ignoring the Type 4-ish aspect of your version. (no, pat, this isn't entirely Type 4-ified; they do actually draft their decks and don't have a common deck).

2) As our Cube isn't finished (I only have the list of cards and am locating copies of each), our plan is to have two cubes: One for four players and another box to add in when we get to 6 or 8. Box 1 (for four players) is the base box and Box 2 (for 6-8) is the expansion.

3) We allow for multiple copies of cards in our Cube, as it is needed for the full lines to properly work. While I advocated for the allowance of Mutant-draft style evolution, the concept was a bit too far out for my players. So I went ahead and built the full lines.

4) Pokemon in our drafts do not provide energy as we simply Draft regular 40-card decks. IN the same way, we also allow for multiple Pokemon searching as it doesn't (in theory) break our cube. Same goes for most other basic match rules. We just run a regular 4- or 8-man pod after the draft.

A quick question: How much testing did you do before finalizing your list? It looks pretty teched out with cards from all over. Interested to see how you came up with everything.

BTW, I'll post my Cube list as soon as I get around to it.

~Cardz.

You should push for mutant more, it opens up a lot more doors.

EDIT: Also, just to get the testing out of the way you can proxy it up.

lol as i helped add some cards to the cube it kinda goes.

Hey this card looks pretty good. someone else agrees and it goes in :D! It comes up and we test how it plays if it is too broken we take it out. Crobat prime is a example of that. The list isnt finalized yet as we made some changes saturday but this list was made around thursday so it isn't updated.

Basically. There wasn't a scientific method or anything =D
Mutant is really fun, and if we chose to have more than 1 copy of a card, I agree it would be fun.

We are most likely going to go down to 45 Cards deck. Still with the point system.
Fat Kitty: Something like that XD
Although, we do weigh if the card would be broken in a format with good cards.
If a card is really good, we look for a draw back.. even if it may be a small one.

Example: We have Metagross (DX) which gets back a Metal or Psychic Energy and attaches it to your Active.. but then you must put 1 Damage Counter on that Pokemon. We didn't include Dragonite(Delta Species) because there was no draw back to the card.

Why are numbers an issue with mutant? Isn't that part of the point? That it eliminates the need for specific lines? Also, looking at the first few couple of cards. Why's aipom in there?

Also, I'm going to be making a thread soon specifically for a mutant style cube, but it's mainly asking for the best all around pokemon cards, since a mutant cube would be able to support pretty much that.

They just have been in the past is all.
Aipom Draws a card.
Odd, I'd still keep it at one count. Like I'm trying to essentially make it as close to the cube I used to draft, which was one ofs, normal draft, and the best of the best cards in the game. Also, couldn't you ask for more from that spot? Like if everything's basic, why not run dodrio or noctowl?
