Pokemon japanese promo trophy cards - prices

Hi

I would like to add a few japanese pokemon promo trophy cards to my collection. The ones that im interested in are:

Trophy pikachu trainer cards (97,98,99)
Tropical mega battle exeggutor trainer
Super secret battle mewtwo

Would someone be able to give me a rough idea of what price to pay for each of these cards? Ive had a look on ebay and ive found 2 of the cards for sale. What do you think of the prices? What would be a fair price to offer for these 2 cards?

1. 97 pikachu trophy - 3rd place - £5344 ($9000)
2. Tropical mega battle trainer exeggutor - 2nd place - £4751 ($8000)

In general you can expect to pay $3000+ for the old-school trophy cards....depending on condition, place and if its in the original case.

The two you have listed above 97 Pikachu in its original case could bring in $4000-6000 (possibly more if you find the right buyer) and the Tropical mega battle 2nd place would be around $3500-4k. In all honesty I have seen prices fluctuate on these cards so its hard to nail down an exact price.

Thanks for the advice. I understand what your saying about the price fluctuations. Tried looking on yahoo japan and managed to find the trophy pikachu set. Its not graded though. Price is $17860. Seems very high for a ungraded set.

Original japanese trophy cards are extremely rare. Their value is not effected by grading. Grading is simply a way to protect them if you opt to do that with them.

Some cards are too rare and unique for grading to matter regarding price.

Honestly those prices are definitely too low for the current market...

If i were to make an offer for the number 2 - tropical mega battle trainer card, what price do you think would be reasonable?

I really want the trophy pikachu 98 card set thats on yahoo japan, but its not worth buying of the duty, vat & middleman's fees that are involved. If the set was located in europe for example, then i would be more tempted to buy it. He is also the same seller who sold the illustrator card.
