You don't have to qualify for Worlds to go; you can go hang out, I think, as long as you don't clutter the playing area. And you can play in the Grinder (Last Chance Qualifier), like me!

Leagues are a great place to practice your game and learn about what's going on. They are VERY worthwhile, especially if you have a great deal of advanced players in your area, which you probably will.

Battle Roads are small, local tournaments that are designed to be entry-level for everyone: new Judges can try their hand and figure out the kinks, new players can try out their skills in a tournament environment, advanced players messing with new decks can tweak and fine-tune their ideas... There is a set in Fall, and there is another set in Spring.

I forgot to add that I'd like to go to Worlds as a Player, however we'll see how that pans out. I've already missed a City Championship event that was held in my area because it was on Black Friday XD. I'm hoping this won't affect my chances too much. The Grinder sounds really fun, do you have to quality for that??

How does one get into the Grinder, and where are they held?

And thakidalee, since you said Worlds is in your hometown, I assume you're in or around San Diego? There's going to be another City Championship or some event on New Year's Day

Grinder iirc is the day before worlds. It is a tournament, with a surprisingly low amount of people. If you get T8 or something you can get in and go to World's.

You don't have to qualify either.

Yeah, I've been eyeing that event for a week or two now. I'm definitely going to be there, are you from the San Diego area too?

it ususally has a t4 for juniors t8 seniors t16 to t32 masters and for juniors not really that good in t4 4-5 good in t8 or seniors and most in masters are really good

Yes. And I'm nowhere near San Diego.

This year, I'm going to Nats. Maybe next season I'll go to the Grinder, if I don't qualify (lol).

^ I was asking Monkeylad since he brought up a City Championship that was in my area that I've had my eye on. Looking at his profile confirmed it. But how difficult it is to quality to Worlds, do you know anyone who has?

@BJJ
Thx, did not know that. Will be VERY helpful later.

@Thekid
I know a few that have gotten in (David M, Josh B, Rokman, some others) and, as long as you play a solid deck in a relatively easy area, you should do good (but I'm not really the person to talk to about this).

Well I know I want be qualifying for Worlds since Ive only done a few things this year, ad the 700+ attending the grinder is some-what discouraging, but it's my only chance to get in :3

And yes thekidalee, I'm in SD and will most likely go ^^

With as many people as there are, grinding does require a good bit of luck. You obviously have to be ridiculously good, too, but you need to not hit your bad matchups/donks, etc...

I will be trying to Grind this year, I hope. :D

I usually don't get donked, and judging by the big decks this year and what sees the most play, I can prepare against them and hope to be extremely lucky.

And if you go, I look forward to meeting you :]

No...it is different every year due to how many more invites are added to the initial four. Each division has a minimum invite number of four for the Last Chance Qualifier. I'm sorry I don't have any proof of this due to the pokemon site being incredibly annoying to navigate.
The past year in Hawaii only 12 people in masters made it through the grinder, and that is because they decided to allow all the 6-1s to make it in. If you're trying to get into worlds through the grinder, good luck. Because if you get anymore than one loss the chances of you making it in are unlikely.

barley anyone has money to go to hawaii thats why. a lot of people come to sd. so grinder will probably have a t8 or t16 for seniors t4 for juniors and t16 for masters.
