Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Pokemon Platinum chapter 7&8

Amidst the rain our heroes headed for a little bite to eat, and there planned what they would in Hoenn.
So far we find them approaching the cruise liner that will take them to Olivine were the intend to disembark, and maybe see some of the sights.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Aboard the Fast Ship S.S. Aqua Chris originally planed to head directly to Hoenn, but when news of the Battle Tower being finished reached him he could hardly contain his joy, and hopefully he could win that prize..He continued to stare up at the distant sky catching glimpses of speed boats makings crests along the calm ocean surface.
"Ever been here before?" Vega inquired. The wind stirring his wispy hair.
"I have been to Olivine once before, but that was on a field trip to the lighthouse for a project, and that was at least 4 years ago, it has changed since then."
Chris stood on the railing squinting from the sunlight that reflected off his rocawear beltbuckle.
"I was born here.."Vega continued.
"It was beautiful, and sometimes if you were lucky you could go up to this hot spring in an alcove over that way, and see the gym leader bathing in it."
Chris fell off balance a little. "Vega I knew you were a perv."
Vega glared at him. "Sure.."
The two then continued to stare at he sea in silence.

*Attention this is your captain speaking, the Fast Ship S.S. Aqua is preparing to dock, please take all your belongings with you as you disembark, any lost, or stolen articles are not our responsibility.*

Shoving his way through the crowd, Chris managed to get off, and get a view of the city. He could mutter only one word.."Breathtaking!"
"Chris you act as if you've never been here before." Travis said.
"He has."Jake said. "Once, I was in the same class as he was, to bad he wandered off."
Chris' ears burned slightly, it was a beautiful day the wind was blowing gently, caressing his clothes making them slightly billow in the wind.
They continued walking until they reaached a beach which was a bit empty..
"Hey, excuse me!" A passerby happned to hear them, and turned around.
"Yes may I help you?" He asked somewhat annoyed.
"Where is everyone?" Kessie asked.
The swimmer laughed. "Who cares, the water is clear, so I can swim laps, but if you must know they are at the Battle Tower."
Chris was elated at that, and immediately asked directions. Once they arrived there was some dispute over what to do.
"Single match, knockout!" Kessie suggested.
"No, I say Mixed Battles." Travis added.
Then Damien put in. "How about Double Battles?" Everyone seemed to agree to this, and they decided on teams.
"Damien, you, and Chris." Kessie said looking at them both.
Chris laughed, and said. "No, He will just hold me back, so I decline."
Damien got a little mad at this. It was then he saw Vega registering, and made aq risky decision.
"Hey, Vega!"
Vega looked up surprised.
"Ya wanna be my partner for Double trainer battles?" Chris asked.
"Hmm." Vega thought out loud.
Chris slipped him $10. "Please." He whispered.
Vega accepted..

--1st Match--

"Crap, this isn't good," Chris muttered sourly as he recalled Pupitar. This was his second loss in only five minutes. Vega was faring better, having only lost Absol. Forretress was a tank, you couldn't argue that. "Go, Sparky!" Chris sent out his partner staring down his Asian opponents.
Their opponents, Jiang Hao and Zhange Wei, smirked. Zhange Wei looked unperturbed. "Weezing, Smokescreen!"
Jiang Hao, who couldn't be seen through the thickening fog, shouted, "Zangoose, Swords Dance again!"
"Forretress, blow away the smoke with a Rapid Spin!" Vega coughed as he inhaled a bit of the smoke. It worked, though.
"Zangoose, Crush Claw!" Jiang Hao leaned against the rail of the trainer platform.
The mongoose leapt at Raichu faster than Chris had seen most Pokémon move, and struck the mouse with its claw with incredible force. Why Raichu didn't faint was beyond anyone present. The sound was incredible, though, resonating far into the crowd.
Raichu coughed up some blood, a black bruise appearing on its stomach. A bright yellow aura surrounded it. Without being ordered to, swirls of balled energy erupted from its' fist. The Focus Punch attack, for some reason it was a little stronger , slammed right through Zangoose with startling force,
The mongoose went down.
Not stopping there, the mouse also Focus Punch'd Weezing and threw it towards the halfway fainted Zangoose. Raichu then screeched deeply, causing a Thunder attack that struck both opposing pokemon hard.
"Sparky, calm down!" Chris shouted, trying to regain control of his Pokémon. Raichu was breathing hard, but calmed down a little, Vega was impresses as was the crowd.
The opponents did nto take to that quite well, and sent out another round of pokemon this time flight based.
Sparky paused, but then continued to Thunderbolt the opposition, knocking them both out easily.
"That's enough!" Chris shouted again, this time much harsher than before. "Stop it!, NOW!"
Travis winced in the audience. Few times did Chris even get angry, let alone shout at his Pokémon.
Jiang Hao swapped in Kabutops, while Zhange Wei opted for Linoone.
The yellow glow starting to fade from around Raichu, it still hit Linoone with a long-range Hidden Power--turned out to be Ice--Chris forgot he ever taught him that move—which sent it into the far wall with a loud bang.
"Raichu, cut it out now, or I'll be forced to punish you," Chris said darkly. Travis knew how much this must have costed Chris. Alex loved all his Pokémon, and threatening them at all with pain must have hurt him just that much. Raichu got the hint and stopped. It looked at the ground with a sorrowful hum.
"Damn," Jiang Hao muttered, before switching in a Kabutops. "Kabutops, Ancient Power!"
Kabutops struck its claws into the ground, unearthing chunks the size of a human foot, and swung them at Forretress, and Raichu.
"Sparky," Chris said coldly. The mouset didn't speak, so he recalled it.
The bug was struck right in the face, and meerly shrugged it off.
The onslaught of stone didn't stop there. As Forretress stood floating there, five or six other rocks pelted it all over its body. It did not even stagger, it even managed to taunt Kabutops a little.
Jiang Hao growled and called out his last pokemon a Magneton. Still, if he had 2 pokemon left they could still take them. Chris responded with Salamence
"Salamence, Earthquake attack!" he ventured. Vega commanded Forretress to hover off the ground, and the dragon dropped from 50 feet causing a large shockwave in the arena. Kabutops, being a Water-type, wasn't greatly affected, but its Rock type is what brought it down, and it fell along with Magneton.
Then the announcer pronounced Chris, and Vega the winners.
"WOW!" Rachel said when they came back, "That was a good fight." Travis agreed, and congratulated the two of them.
"You two make a pretty good team, despite how much you hate each other."

--3rd Match--

“So what’d she tell you?” Vega asked sounding unconcerned as they again walked onto the trainer platforms, this time to face their second opponents, a Native American named Andrea and her bother named Alex. He still wondered when they’d fight trainers that weren’t from overseas or, in this case, from across a long distance.
“Like I said three or four times already,” Alex answered, “She didn’t want me telling you.”
“I just want to know if there was anything I should be knowing,” Vega explained.
“Nothing huge,” He repeated.
“This is Kessie we’re talking about, it’s always something.”
“Well, she might not be shouting at us so much,” Chris shrugged. “Oh, and people seem to be staring.”
“We didn’t just…” Vega trailed off. They’d missed the entire introduction, and a Solrock and Nidoqueen were standing on the colloseum floor. “Oh for the love of…”
He chuckled. “Yep. Well, might as well get started late. Go, Salamence!”
“Go, Blaziken!”
“Nidoqueen, Earthquake!” Andrea shouted, right as Alex shouted, “Solrock, Flamethrower!”
Chris blinked. Vega winced. Salamence retreated into the air, but Blaziken didn’t have wings, or anything so it was struck by both attacks. Vega had to recall it for Flareon.
“Flareon?” Chris asked. He shrugged. “If you say so. Salamence, Hydro Pump!”
Salamence crouched on all fours, shooting a blast of water from its mouth at Nidoqueen.
“Flareon, Flamethrower!” Chris pressed the attack. Nidoqueen didn’t seem to mind the flames, but the stream of water hitting it in the face sent it down.
Andrea frowned solemnly and recalled Nidoqueen, exchanging it with a Wobbufet. he wondered what they were thinking, as this decision basically made the fight a two-on-one against Solrock.
“Solrock, Hyper Beam!” Alex followed up almost instantly.
Flareon countered by using Curse bolstering its defenses, Chris called for the coup de grace.
Vega nodded. “Flareon, hit it with a Shadow Ball!”
Solrock went down just as quickly as Nidoqueen had, when Alex switched it for a Wobbufet of his own. Chris didn’t understand the point of a double Wobbufet strategy. Yes, it was frustrating to take down, but it was nothing viable for this level of fighting.
“All right,” Vega hissed quietly to Chris. “We’ve tossed this strategy around before, and I think we know how to beat it."
“But it really hurts the Pokémon,” Chris hissed back.
“It’s either that or we’re going to have a hard time getting rid of those things.”
He sighed. “All right, fine. Salamence, Earthquake!”
At that second Vega commanded Flareon to jump into the air.
“Counter!” Andrea and Alex shouted at the same time. The shockwave swept over both Wobbufet, nearly knocking them out, and suceeded in slowing their movements. They then both glowed and Salamence was sent to the ground without seeming to have been hit with any force at all.
Vega winced at the force of the blow. The ground had shaken quite hard. “Flareon, Heat Wave!”
Both enemy Pokémon never had the chance to counterattack. The roiling flames swept out over them, instantly ridding them of their disorientation but at the same time doing it at such a rate as to induce extreme pain. Both Wobbufet collapsed to the ground, warbling.
“Good job, Salamence,” Chris said grimly. He didn’t like having to sacrifice his Pokémon, despite that it was becoming a regular thing. “Go, Gyarados!”
Andrea and Alex didn’t introduce their next Pokémon, which were Plusle and Minun. Chris nearly laughed, but regained his composure. He then frowned, as both were Electric-type, and would easily knock Gyarados aside.
“Flareon, get between them and Gyarados!” Vegawas fast on the uptake. “Heat Wave!”
“Helping Hand!” Alex ordered Minun. Minun clapped and cheered frantically for its partner.
“Thunder!” Andrea followed up.
The hit was indescribable, obviously doing critical damage. Gyarados’ scales blackened around the impact point, then whitened as the voltage increased. Then Gyarados’ entire body glowed red as it was sucked back into its pokéball. The blast of electricity kept going and scored a deep crater into the trainer’s platform right under Chris. He now bore quite a burden.
“Holy crap,” Vega was in awe. He’d never seen a lightning-based attack do so much damage before. Gyarados was definitely going to be out for at least the next fight. That left Chris with only three Pokémon eligible to fight, and if one of them was similarly knocked out, he’d be disqualified for lack of Pokémon, and Vega along with him.
“I know what you’re thinking,” Chris said. “But we can’t afford a defensive strategy. We need to break their teamwork as fast as we can, so don’t even think of switching in Forretress. Go, Vaporeon!”
“Flareon, Fire Blast!” Vega shouted. “Hit between the two!”
“Vaporeon, follow Minun with an Ice Beam!” Chris yelled.
Plusle and Minun each dodged the blast of fire separately, allowing Minun to be hit with the ice beam. It didn’t show any signs of freezing.
“Plusle, Charge!” Andrea growled.
“Minun, Double Team!” Alex muttered. Chris wondered if he’d really gotten to the two of if they were simply putting on a show.
“Flareon, counter the Charge with a Smog!” smoke quickly filled the arena. "Now use Wish."
“Not quite,” Alex gloated. “Helping Hand!”
“Thunder!” Andrea shouted. Right before the water coalesced around Plusle, the rat shot another bolt of deadly electricity, this one at Flareon. Alex had to look away from the bright light of the impact. When he could finally look, he saw Flareon lying on the ground, its fur blackened, its breathing ragged.
“These guys play for keeps,” Chris muttered angrily. “We have to step our game up. No mercy, you got that? As much as we don't like working together we have to if we want that prize.”
“I got ya,” Vega nodded. "You're are beginning to sound like me." He was a little elated about fighting as brutally as Chris wanted to, but he understood his sentiment. Each now had a Pokémon that would easily be out of commission for at least the next battle. Vega was about to recall Flareon when the wish took effect, Flareon began glowing with a golden aura, and was revived completely.
“Go, Sparky!” Chris switched Vaporeon for his next Pokémon. “Focus Punch!”
The two electric mice absorbed the hits, they must've been trained to absorb. Chris slumped his shoulders.
"Alright Plusle Hyper Voice!" Andrea commanded.
Nobody was really prepared for the sound, not even Chris. One second, Plusle was silent, and the next, it was yelling like its tail had caught fire.
Hands over his ears, Alex shouted, “Minun! Swift!” The fine-pointed stars scored many hits on Raichu, and managed to break his concentration in the process.

“You’re getting them!” Alex praised the mouse. “Keep hitting Raichu with your Swift!”
“Flareon, Helping Hand!” Vega’s voice could barely be heard through the thunderous crowd..
Flareon clapped and cheered its hardest, its voice just barely got through to Raichu, who was becoming more and more wounded by the second by the shower of needle-like stars.
“Now!” Chris shouted. “Use 100% power for Thunder!”
The hit was indescribable, even more so that the very first, obviously doing critical damage. Minun’s fur blackened around the impact point, then whitened as the voltage increased. Then Minun’s entire body glowed red as it was sucked back into its pokéball. The blast of electricity kept going and created a deep crater into the trainer’s platform right under Alex, and Andrea. It tok a minute for the light to clear up, so Chris could see again.
“Flareon, you can stop now!” Vega shouted. Flareon halted its cheer right as Vega had uttered the word “can,” as if glad to stop. “Fire Blast!”
Plusle, who was barely able to stand, was struck by the blast of fire and carried clear out of the arena. It was soon after recalled,.
A sort of uneasy silence hung over the stadium, until finally the judge raised his flag slowly and said without any discernable emotion, “The winners are Chris Woodard and Vega Asakura.

--7th Match--

Chris had to think quickly, seeing as 3 of his best pokemon were out of commission, he would have to make up for it someway, and being this close to his final match was just an incentive.
"Vega who do you have left?" Chris hurriedly inquired.
"Why do you want to know?" He asked susiciously.
"Just answer the damn question." Vega checked his pokeballs.
"Blaziken's down, as is Flareon, Absol's not to good either. So that leaves Forretress, Gengar, and Flygon." Chris worried about the next match seeing as how their best pokemon were down for the count.
"We have no choice, but to drop out.." Vega shot him an ugly look.
"What the hell do you mean drop out! There's no way its right before our final match!" He yelled.
Travis, and Rachel watched as they argued back, and forth deciding on one way to help.
"Hey, both of you!" Chris, and Vega looked at them.
"what!"
"Here use some of ours." Travis offered. Vega laughed a haughty laugh.
"Why would I use your pathetic pokemon? I want to win not get humiliated." Rachel shot him a dirty look, and was about to hit him when Ramona grabbed her arm.
*Trainers approach your podiums!* The PA blared.
"We have no choice." Chris thought. Travis, and Rachel some of there pokemon.
Vega, and Chris stood atop their podiums, and across from them stood there opponents, one Latin trainer, and one Russian.
*Begin!*
Chris led with one of Travis's pokemon, it turned out to be a Sneasel.
"What?" Chris asked surprised. vega to led with his 'rented' pokemon which was a Clefable.
The Latin trainer named Enrico led with a Ludicolo, and Yeltsin led with an Ursaring.
Chris having never battled a Ludicolo before decided to be cautious.
"Vega! We have to be on our guard! We don't know what they may be up to."
Vega nodded in agreement.
Enrico decided to lead."Ludicolo Brick Break on Sneasel!"
The pineapple-like duck danced around a little before charging at Sneasel.
"Follow Me!" Vega said at the last minute.
Clefable looked puzzled at the strange voice, but obeyed, and taunted Ludicolo in its direction.
Chris looked skeptical.
"Sneasel attack with Beat Up!" Sneasel nimbly cleared half the arena in seconds, and was in Ursarings face slashing to, and fro.
"Ursaring try to repel the blows!" Yeltsin said in his accent.
The bear tried to avoid the blows, but failed, and went down quite easily.
"Damn." Yeltsin muttered under his breath as he recalled his pokemon, and he sent out a Macarago.
In the midst of this Chris had almost forgotten about Ludicolo, and looked over to see the duck keeled over from a Counter by Clefable.
"Chris, pay attention, or we are gonna lose this thing you hear?" He said somewhat harshly.
Enrico somewhat angry responded with an Onix, "A wierd choice." Chris thought.
"Onix, Sandstorm." Enrico calmly said as Onix began emitting a thick cloud of sand that blinded Chris.
"Macarago, use Heat Wave!" Vega saw what they were up to.
The heat from the fire atack combined with the sand, and wind to become a towering inferno.
"Sneasel can't take this heat!" Chris said through clenched teeth as he recalled Sneasel in favor of Pupitar.
"Clefable!Metronome!" Vega commanded, as Clefable waved its finger to, and fro then decided on a Surf attack. A wave of water erupted from god-kows-where, and hit both combatants head on, dispersing the inferno as well as KO'ing the enemy pokemon.
"Vega did you do that?" He asked.
"No it was Clefable." Vega returned.
Rachel was smiling from one ear the other seeing her Clefable pull off an undoubtedly a gamewinning move.
Enrico the opted for a new choice, a Lapras, while Yeltsin went for his Piloswine. It was then Chris got an idea.
"Vega! switch Clefable for Flygon now!" He yelled.
"Why?" Vega asked skeptically.
"Just do it!"
"Fine." Vega said sourly as he recalled Clefable, and sent out Flygon.
"Now use Rock Slide!" Vega commanded. Flyong whipped rocks the size of melons at the opponents. The rocks struck both pokemon savagely, and while they were recovering Chris ordered Pupitar to use Earthquake.
The cocoon-like pokemon fired pressurized gas from holes at its base, which sent it flying into the air, then came down with a thunderous crash sealing their victory.
"Yea!" Travis yelled from the stands.
*The winners are Vega Asakura, and Chris Woodard, now will the vctors please come recieve their prizes.*
Elated Chris ran off the podium to the center of the field, and the prize tured out to be a Technique-teaching Machine that contained Ice Beam, "Not that helpful" he thought to himself sourly.
