Pokemon = socially unacceptable?

There's just no reason to do that when you know how everybody else around you will react. It isn't about not loving something, it's about not causing a scene/avoiding a conflict.

The question in this thread is do other people think pokemon is socially unacceptable and will his kid get made fun of it if he plays. The answer is No, he won't get made fun of if he plays, but if he tries to shove it in other people's faces, yes, he will get put down.

Things like that are what make Pokemon Socially unacceptable. This thread isn't about what people playing Pokemon think anyway, so I don't get why there are so many posts here. It's about what people outside of it think.

The question is "Is Pokemon socially unacceptable?". If you can answer that question with an honest "No" then you need a reality check.

Has anyone been to Hot Topic lately? They've started carrying pokemon toys and clothing, I think for the vintage appeal. Also maybe it's just the people I hang out with but I often hear people talking about their Yanma's base stats and nature, or chain breeding Onixes, or what have you. And these are 16-20 year olds hanging out on Friday night at the mall or at the local concert venue for metal and indy bands.

And all of my friends have known I play pokemon since I started playing at the beginning of the 06-07 season. I even taught a few how to play and took them to league, but there were some creepy adult players at that league that I think discouraged my friends from coming back.

Anyways. My friends might not be as in to the game as I am but they like it and they think it's cool whenever I do well at a tournament. And I've won some decent prizes and I make good money on the secondary market so that's always cool.

I don't even get why you keep responding to my posts. I'm not talking to you. This thread is about if Pokemon is Socially Acceptable or not, and the answer is no. Everybody knows that. There's nothing to even discuss.

its only socially unacceptable if you make it unacceptable. if you have confidence in what you do, it shouldnt matter what other people think. liek srsly.

btw, have you heard of Zach Fisher? this kid is a chick magnet, amazing pokemon player, AND he's the coolest guy at school. he has his HUGE trophy he got when he WON STATES and displays it in his apartment, and when random girls come over (daily basis) he makes sure they notice it before they're too "occupied." this kid is PROOF that pokemon DOES NOT make you uncool! IT'S ALL ABOUT THE PRESENTATION BABY!
