There are no travellers in the rest of the world or what?

The Stadium Challenge in Salzburg (Austria) last year had players from Italy, Slovenia, Austria, Switzerland, Germany and the Netherlands. So if Worlds would be outside the US there would be of course players travelling to play the grinder or prereleases at Worlds, no doubt about that.

If we talk about Worlds in Japan or Australia you would be right, but if we talk about Worlds in Europe, you are plain wrong. I know places in Europe which would be accessible for a lot of player of different nationalities.

Grinder's are just about impossible to justify plane tickets if your goal is to play in a pokemon event. Even if you are an elite player, glory is far from guarenteed.

I think Nationals is best event in the U.S., the 4 day Origins event gives everyone a great time. If you travel to play in the grinders, and don't make top cut, it is really a bummer, and not much fun unless you have family and friends you want to cheer on. If you had one event to make and have to travel too, it would be the "Origins" and nationals. (unless you are in California)

If there is indeed no grinders for 2007, then it would not seem to be fair to exclude local players from the grinders. The Florida/ California / West Coast folks who have had great opportunities to participate in grinders in the past. If it was in London, or Japan for example, I don't think it would be fair for Pokemon eliminate the grinders once it is in a non US location.

Following this logic, the only reason that there would not be a grinder in 2007 would be that there are no local players. Thus following this logic the 2007 World pokemon championship is going to be in some exotic island location flown by charter boat or flight by elite pokemon trainers can battle, (just like in the shows). Pokemon and Nintendo must have bought an South Pacific island that they are preparing for the 2007 worlds championship. I wonder what island Pokemon bought?, or maybe it is in fact on a boat like they did a few years ago.

Grinder is a perfect bonus for siblings, dads and moms to make Worlds EXTRA enjoyable, when they are following their kid with an invite. At least this is something which is important to foreigners which have to pay like a million to get there... And PUI want this events to be called WORLDS right? Not just America & a few friends... So now you know my opinion...
