Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Pokemon Video Game Championship Series - World Championship Discussion

It's more like a lottery. You need to be there and sign up and then you get a wristband. The wristbands have a number of a Pokemon on them, like I was 077 Ponyta. Anyways, after registration ends, then they show a bunch of those numbers and the Pokemon name on TV screens. If your number is on there, you get to play. Only 128 people from each of the two age division are chosen.

That's a fun way to choose somebody...too bad they don't let you keep them, right?

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

How long did the whole "sing-up" process last? I mean, how long did it take to find out if you've been selected or not?

Yeah, and the TCG has its regionals all on the same day. I'm just saying, since I was at least one of the first 50 to arrive, then got to wait around for nothing the next 2 hours...just depressing to me when I hear some California idiot whose regionals already took place in their state has to come over to here. I mean, I saw quite a few locals who didn't get in...just saying this is something I think needs to be improved on.

Oh well, always the dreaded "next year". That and BRs are starting soon :thumb:

Also, they don't have to take your wristband, I asked if I could keep mine and was able to.

I agree, but I think what's stopping this from happening is that they only have one set of equipment to use for all the regional’s. I hope next year they put some type of a season system into place. I would love to see the video game played like the TCG, with different tournaments throughout a season. I don't think it'll happen due to the money not being there. They can only sell you one DS and one game with the video game, but with the TCG they can sell you new cards with each new set.

Pokemon VCG

does the system at the video game tournament have to be a ds lite , or can it be a dsi?

i currently live in cincinnati, ohio and i think i got screwed for this tourny. of course i'm traveling 4 hours along with a friend to nashville, to to particapate. i'm going to be highly upset if i don't get picked. it was nice with JAA when you took the online quiz and if you were one of the first 64 they made sure you played. i like the current battle system but i would enjoy it more if they would have banned all legends from this tourny and found a better way to find hacked pokemon so people would get banned from the tourny for trying to use them.

but i agree with the people about the leagues. nintendo should contact local malls or stores around the country, two in each state and some honorary mentions or something to fill the 128 spots.

hopefully after this VGC people learn that garchomps and metagross and other riducolous straight out attacking pokemon don't work out over a thought out team

after watching the phoenix battle i have to rephrase that, but i wouldn't expect someone from [AHEM] to do anything else. i believe those were the highest stated pokemon that are legal in this tourny.

Are you saying all we need is the cart we want to use for the tourney?

How long before you know you've been selected or not?

yes. all you need is the Platinum cart.

[gal=35567] you put your cart into the slots in the middle of the table[/gal]

and they got around to announcing the people who made it into the tourny around 10:30.

Mine was 236-Tyrogue, didn't get picked. Kinda sad that I did all this mad training for, basically, nothing. I wasn't totally done after the draw, I got to see one of my friends get to round 2 and his match was epic, we saw the battle vid after he got out.

Got lots of pix, too. I'll see about posting them in the next couple days.

Sweet I was wondering how they did that.
I want to look into that device now.
Playing your DS on a TV....
I would kill for that.

Well they did have the similar or maybe close to technology for the Cube. They had the docking station you screwed into the bottom and placed a GBA cart into the front.

Well, if you read the past few posts or so (but it is long, so I'll give you that), think of the selection process as a lottery. Which means you MAY or MAY NOT be selected.

yahhhh!!!! I'm going to win some games of POKEMON BATTLES!!! I want to play alll trick room!! BECAUSE MY TRICK ROOM IS BETTER!
