Poker, etc

Anyone else on the boards play a lot of competitive Poker, or just Poker for fun? I've been getting seriously into Poker as of late, and I'm getting quite good. I purchased a couple books by David Slansky, have been playing quite a bit, and watching Poker on ESPN, ESPN2, and the Travel Channel as much as I can to get my game up to a really good level. I've won $46 this past week on $0.05/$0.15 games in the neighbourhood... which is REALLY good. I mainly play No limit Hold 'Em, but I've been experimenting in Omaha-Hi, 7-Card Stud, and just limit Hold Em. If anyone else plays Poker out there, we could maybe play some games together online or something or just talk strategy, etc. Or just like... say "What up, I play Poker, etc".

POKER > YOU.

Cool, that was high limit stuff. You've still failed to win consistanly against many different people. In $5/$15 games that's like one or two pots won. GIVE ME SOME REAL RESULTS, CMON.

NOT like HE's here.. BOMIE is a POKER fiend!!!

I like to KEEP my $$$.

Met a professional POKER player in Europe. Lived in Chicago, met him in Austria, HE QUIT his job to go on the circuit.

HE had *b.. well I can't really say it... blew me away.

I played indy a little bit at gencon but basically he showed me all the games and the rules. Id really like to get super system and other poker books and own local people for some $$$ though ;\

My favorite variation is chicago. It's essentially 7 card stud, but you split the pot with whoever has the high spade in the hole (the highest spade card that your opponents can't see).

Moss, it wasn't high limit, it was NO limit, with .25/.75 blinds
now I'm after $20/$40...hrhrhr

anyway, anyone who wants to play Poker online, IM me at SiriusBomb. There's a cool program that we all use (it's free!), but I can't advertise on here, so you'll have to IM me.

My friends and I played Texas Holdem til 2 am the other nite. We're all amateurs, so no one is brave enough to put out a lot of money. I prefer to play Capitalism, but thats not really similar to Poker.

5 card draw?! KILL YOURSELF! That game is like.. so luck dependant I don't even want to THINK.

I'm finding that it's so weird playing games other than Hold 'Em (what I really have gotten into). The strategy is so different, especially between Omaha and Hold Em. You can call with so much more and you'll almost ALWAYS have a hand in Omaha. I think that's why Sam Farha plays so many hands-- he's primarily an Omaha player, and you play a lot of junkier hands in Omaha. Often times if you've got AQ87 in the hole, you find that you use that 8 and 7 just as often as the AQ, leading you to play 87s and stuff like that in Hold Em. Risky business, too risky for me. I think I'd rather stick to cash games where I can play tight as hell and grind out. Tournament play would force me to become very agressive, and that's something I don't necessarily like to do. I love being tight. :)

I play NL and Limit Hold'em.

I've found that PartyPoker and TruePoker are really good systems that offer a lot of free "play money" tables. However, PartyPoker has recently had few open seats at play money tables. TruePoker allows you to create a table, so there's always room. Both have play money tournaments as well.
