The day was great, and helping out at the whole thing was fun. Probably should have taken more pictures though, and not the camera in my backpack. Anyway...

Got there early, riding with my friends Mary and Alex (thank you so much for the ride!). Looked around for a few minutes, taking most of my early pics. Looked around a bit more, then came and waited until it was time to start. Chad (guy working for this) explained all of the details on what to do. People started to enter the Expo midway through his explanation, which made hearing a little hard but still manageable. Then we set up all of the decks, and put some damage counters at each table. After that, a few minutes of rest, then it started.

I volunteered as someone working in the game demo area, basically teaching kids the basics. All of the kids I worked with were nice, and most of them listened. Some didn't get it quickly, while a few caught on quickly, and helped their oppoenent learn. After two demos, I realized why speakers have water handy, with a dry throat. Only person who didn't seem to like the demo that much while I was there was a mother who eventually played for her son. She questioned many of the things I told her, even if she asked the turn before. I can't say I wasn't happy when that was over with. Eventually, I went for lunch.

The line for getting food was pretty long. Had to wait about 30 min to finally get to the register and order. Expensive, but since when is it not? Didn't taste that bad though.

I forget when i did it exactly, but I think I went to get the Mystic Ticket after lunch. The line was huge though. So, being cheap, I stood near the end of the line, and linked up from a distance. I was close enough to get the ticket from the back. Sorry to those people who waited in line to get their ticket(s).

Next thing I did was go wait in line to get into one of the GBA tournaments. Line took hour(s?) to get through, but it was worth the wait to get in. Battled against a few people in line for practice, and I one guy I saw had a lot of hacked (I assume) Pokemon on his game (a shining Rayquaza, shining Deoxys, shining CELEBI, celebi isn't even out in the US), and he sold a Deoxys to a kid for 10 bucks ( :nonono: ). I should've said something, but too late now. >_<

(Turn by turn of the battle below, to best of my memory) After more time, finally get into a lvl 100 tournament. (fyi, I had Latios w/ Soul Dew, Kyogre w/ Leftovers, and Snorlax w/ Lum Berry) Latios alone won me the first two battles, and then I had to wait for a while for the last round while two other guys finished their final. Unfortuantly, it was too late to be entered for a chance to play on the big screen. Oh well. Turns out my opponent in the finals participated in the Emerald Fronteir Ultimate Brain Battle (cool!). Then we finally start. Her Jolteon and Tyranitar made my Latios go down quickly. Kyogre came out and took them both down, then her Rayquaza showed. When I saw the nickname' KITTY', I realized that she was a semifinalist in the frontier battle  (awsm job girl!), from reading an article about it. Made me nervous, but Kyogre was fast enough to beat Kitty with ice beam for the win. It was a great battle. The prize for winning was a Pokemon Master Trainer game.

After that, back to the demo area. Did a few more, then the day ended. Hung out for a while until they gave us what they were giving us. Boy, was this fun. Hopefully they bring PRA back to Boston sometime.

edit: link to someone's topic about PRA on another site. talks more about the game battles than the TCG stuff

That's awesome, I know who you mean, with the HP Jolteon. I was five feet away from you with a clipboard, and her boyfriend with the Mudkip hat who also went was there. I had to leave before the final match however. Well done.

Boy my legs hurt. But we certainly ROCKED! Met many familiar faces and some new ones. Hi Floyd! Can't remember your S/N. And hi A_Shy_Girl! Can't remember your exact S/N but....!

Floyd & i ran 10 flights in the tournament area! Straight non-stop action. Saw so-so decks but did see Blastoise/Suicune & Vileplume EX! Many Modified Decks. And many decks that looked like they were thrown together! Plus FOSSIL DITTO!!!!!! No questions about it though..... Prof Oak! I didn't see any Babies though. ER & SER!!!

Good times.

Sounds just like what we had last week in Chicago.

Great report LifrVirus, and thanks for taking down that lovely picture of me! It sure was a great time for everyone! I think Boston was the biggest yet, I asked Chad after we got our pay if he had an attendence figure, and he said it was 11,000! I was happy to get my Mystic tickets on all my games and now have Lugia & Ho-oh on my Emerald. Even got to help a few parents & kids out with the video game stuff after finishing in the card demo area. It was a well run event, lots to see and do, and all the kids seemed to be having a great time! Thanks Nintendo!

Pokemon Rocks Boston report

well guys, i flew across the country for this one and it was awesome!

The room was well planned out for space, although the lines were VERY LONG after 12, but thats the point of the events!!!

I arrived as Max (as you all know me by now!) and i was waiting in line and was talking to some kids about pokemon and they noticed my Professor hat, which i added my Poke Park Pins to, so i had to open my bag and pull out my Japanese Pokemon stuff. Even the parents were amazed. Now. I go to the TCG tournament area and sign up, i get 2nd (losing to an unlimited deck) but it was fun. I then went around and did some of the games. I was in line for the GameBoy battle (level 50) and while waiting in line a kid noticed me as Max and said he didnt know adults were fans of Pokemon also. I just laughed and said im not the only one, trust me. I dont do so well in my 2nd match. I walk around and i hear about the karaoke contest doing the Advanced Challenge theme song. That song being my favorite theme, and 3rd overall, i went to the stage. I was chosen for the top 10!!!!!   I get to go and me and "May" get to have a little fun before I sing for the crowd. After the 10 people sung, the audience voted. I got 4th and was eliminated. But my consolation prize, a lugia bookmark, rayquaza sticker, and the Master Trainer board game! So that was fun. I stuck around to watch a couple battle of the big screens and left satisified with the event!

Props to Bruce for running this event (Bruce contact me for future events and ideas, I got a good one for you to listen to), and POP, PUI, and Pokemon USA and any other party/parties that i missed.

And of course, big props to all the fans who came out to show appreciation for Pokemon and keeping it alive and strong for now and forever!

Until next tine...
