So, there has been tons of hype surrounding "Metal Gengar" since Metagross allows Gengar to OHKO Claydols and Uxies...

I thought this wasn't a bad idea until I realized how horrible it would be to go up against the most popular deck out (Mother Gengar).

Sure, you'll make every thing have 20 less HP, but that's going to ruin your deck when Nidoqueen is healing your opponent and Metagross is just making it easier for you to be destroyed...

Then, I thought running Gengar with Crobats was a good idea... Which it was. I went undefeated with my BatGar deck. But I knew that Gengar could be played better...

This is when I went and came up on about 35 boosters and pulled 2 MD Earodactyls...

A light bulb turned on in my head... "How about I let my opponent's Uxies/ Claydols/ Skuntank Gs take 20 after using their powers and not waste a Rare Candy or HP on Metagross as well as saving some deck space by not running the bats?".

Hence, my personal invention... PREHISTORIC GENGAR.

i like the list my only problem is (and ive tried many times) aerodactol is HARD to get out..even running 4 drawers and claydol and uxie its just hard to get a fossil pokemon out because of the diffuclty of getting the fossil itself. the only fixes i would do is -cyclone for +1 fighting energy and -cyrus initiave for + relicanth who will halp when they drop 2-3 tools
im really intested in how this deck does post any succesees you have will ya?
 
I will warn you.

I've tried Aerodactyl/Gengar, far before I worked on Speedgar. The big trouble is that Aerodactyl does not work as easily because you cannot get Old Amber at all, so you'd have to draw into it or get double PokeDrawer, which was still pretty bad.
 
I've tried a few versions of this deck, and the most reasonable compromise with consistency to get you Aerodactyls out is to run a 4-2 line ( 4 Old Amber, 2 Aeros ) ... I know is too much space, but deck consistency is to an extent a probabilities game ... 4 unsearchable cards with Claydol & Uxie & Drawers ..better chances than only 2.
You can run a 1-1 Queen to hurt your opponent with the Aeros and heal yourself at the same time also .. ( you may need to get Mewtwo line out though ... )
The most fun version I ran of this one was with 4-2 Aeros, 3 Miasmas and 1 bat + 4 turns .... Claydols go down in a pinch.

Actually, I've run this deck too, and I found that if you run a decent amount of direct draw supporters (3-4 Professor Oak's Visit, Volkner's Philosophy), then it becomes much easier to draw into them. Still, I'd run a 3-2 line of the Aero.

And just saying this idea has already been done (Before PL/RR when Nido and Looker's was released)
And the fact you thought you were the first to play Gengar in our league...
So please stop taking credit from other people's ideas.

I've run fossil decks before and I'd like to point out Fossil Excavator, an MD supporter that lets you search your deck for any Fossil card, or any card that evolves from a fossil, or either of those in your discard pile. It's pretty handy. I don't think it would necessarily be worth running just for Aerodactyl, but it's worth mentioning.
 
Dude, I NEVER claimed to be the first to play Gengar at our league. I MAY have claimed to be the best at playing him. I did claim the Aero thing as my personal invention because I've never seen it before. Don't be mad because I always beat you, Nigel! hahaha

I played Gengar since SF pre-releases and those times you beat me? Gimmick decks, for funsies.
Why I stopped playing Gengar?
Claydols, Rose's, Gengar's, Uxies, Rare Candy's, majority of my Lv X's were stolen.

So don't even say you are the best.

Hey, boss. What was that guy's name who just went undefeated playing Gengar in our league's last three consecutive tournaments? It was like Maxwell something... Maxwell Stage? Matthew Sage? Something like that... I'll let actual games and tournies speak for me... I don't need to have been playing it for the longest.
 
Um, because nobody cared about the tourney's it was more for TESTING out decks for the future no one was really using there main deck maybe except Richard on the other hand.
 
Please don't tell me you're arguing over a Gengar variant? Isn't the idea of this forum to help people run their decks, not give them decks to run?
 
fossil excavator only lets you search for things with "fossil" in its name or stage 1/stage 2 pokemon that evolve from something with "fossil" in its name, so that wont help you at all

Cynthias Guidance can choose any card of the top 7 cards, so he can also choose a old amber, or a second pokedrawer...
You can also use it to search pokemons, so i drop bebe's search, but add pokeradar.
Palmer, vs seeker and miasmas are switched for 2 night maintenance and 1 more BTS...

Yeah. That's the flaw in Fossil Excavator with Old Amber. There's no reliable way to search into it, so you could go an entire game without being able to draw into one, and then it just ruins the entire strategy.
