Oh we believed you, we were just hoping someone else would get the same error cards, ........ like me!

I wonder if the gold embossing fell off? or maybe was missed off if the tape ran out! Isn't gold foil attached using a glue (size??) so what you might have is just the glue mark. That may not make them quite so special :(

I don't think it's a "glue falling off" thing... if you look closley at the scan, you'll see that there is some discoloration under the logo. I'm not sure what the printing process is, but is that area left white while the rest of the card is printed?

The 'discoloration' is the drop shadow that appears 'under' the foil embossing. If the embossing was dead-on, the 'shadow' area would be covered by it; if it's a mm or so 'off', it just looks like a shadow of the lettering/logo, done on purpose IMO... /*graphic artist mode*

'mom, if you don't believe me, I'll show it to you at worlds. :thumb:

What what....someone call my name?

Oooooooooo a misprint......yum yum.....gimme gimme - In fact I thought you was sending this for the new HP book mate lol

They print the shadow on the actual card, and then "fill" the logo with the foil treatment. It seems that these cards were not inserted in the foil machine, or something similar, but packaged and shipped :D
It would be awesome to have 1 of those, unfortunately I only own a couple of Oaks with the foil displaced approx 1/2 mm away from where it should be, so I can see part of the same shadow of the Phoenix's cards. Maybe I'll post a scan ^_^;

A while ago I posted about 3 misprinted (or error?) Professor Oak's I received in one of my professor orders. Well, I just secured the use of a scanner and uploaded the picture for anyone who is interested (and to prove that I wasn't making it up).

Error/Misprint Prof. Oak's Research

The card itself is printed correctly, but was missed in the 'foil stamping" process. It is unusual for a card to be missed, but it could happen.
