Professors how did you performed?

Beside a picture of the top8 pairings I didn't see/read anything about the Professor cup.

Come on professors, time to brag about your win or loss or deck.

I went 2-loss with Donphan/Glalie, lost in T8 to an SP deck that had Honchkrow and Garchomp. My two losses were both to Arceus. Nice backpack they gave us this year, it's gonna replace my old computer bag in short order.

I went 4-3 using Ursaring Prime with Chatot G, Drifblim FB, and Slowking techs. The strategy was to find something good in the top three or four cards of their deck and discard it with Ursaring. I lost to Aaron Curry one round and to a Donphan deck another round. Had a lot of fun, though, even if the best I got in my pulls was three rare candies.

I am very interested in who won this and what really went on there, so any info would be appreciative.

Which Glaglie were you ahppen to be using in that?

I have been testing this format as a side event at the BR's, besides testing with other professors in the DFW area.
My decision came down to 2 decks:
Dialga/ Garchomp/ Dewgong or Hunchrow/Garchomp/houndoom/crowbats
I went with Dialga/Garchomp/ Dewgong

After round one win, I scout out, find out that every other match is either Donphan or Arceus.
I'm tech heavy for Donphan and proved it, as I win the match up 3 time throughout swiss.

I loose once to being decked cause my Garchomp C LvX is my last prize (other wise I win 3 turns before I deck) :frown:.

My only other lose was to a Weavile/Garchomp/toolbox Sp deck. This was the deck that Knocked me out at top 8 also. Little frustrated as that all 3 games my deck just did horrible. It did not operate like it was in all the other match ups.

The Weavile/Garchomp was a very good deck and build ( very similar to my Hunchrow/Garchomp but seemed faster), just wish I could have shown that mine was too.

So, that is 3 times I have played in the Professor Cup, with each time making top 8 and cut shy from getting a trophy:frown:.

There's only one in the format, bro. [CC] 70 if you discard a Stadium in play. It was my anti-Phan, but it also proved useful in other matchups. Plus the fact the Basic wasn't completely useless (unlike Seel) and it could actually do something against non-Phan matchups.

Andrew Mishik went like 10-1 with that Honchkrow/Garchomp deck. He lost in the finals, though, that noob.

Oh very nice. I didn't know that your format was PL-on and, I think that it might be starting to catch on. I also use it in Tyranitar for my anti-phan matchup. People see to be indifferent about it from what I seem from responses in a Tyranitar thread I posted in. Anyways that is cool.

Is it just me or does my post there seem rather 4th gradeish and rather simplistic.

I was also fortunate enough to have made the top 8. ( second time in a row for me)

After testing with Shuppet decks, Donphan decks, and a few other things, I decided after the mutant draft, ( yea 3:30am) to build something that I had been thinking about for a while. Nidoqueen/Flygon/Spiritomb. It seemed a little clunky on paper but really turned out to function well. My losses in swiss and top cut were like most everyone elses. Either I prized my whole Flygon line:eek:, got donked by a great opening hand for my opponent:wink:, or just had a bad draw:frown:. It was a fun deck to play, and I would do it again if given the chance.:thumb:

Not too bad for a deck I built at 330am and didnt get to test.

I registered, but was judging top 16 in seniors during the first two rounds, so i started out 0-2 from that. I came back in and went 4-1, to end overall at 4-3. I played Luxchomp with Dewgong for the Donphan matchup. I think the packs I got were the best part of that though. 9 packs, 1 Ursaring Prime, 1 Steelix Prime, 1 whole Entei/Raikou Legend.

Nice pulls. :thumb: out of my 18ish packs i got a kingdra prime and 2 alph lithographs.:frown:

Since this thread is professor related, I have a question.

Every year at the professor cup they would give out something professor-related like a pack of stamped energies or a deck box or mat. But this year they didn't. I heard a rumor that the handout didn't make it on time so they were going to give it out at another time. Is this rumor true, and when are they going to give it out?

It's not so much that it didn't make it on time. It's more of a "something on the item has not been announced yet." It's possible that it's a new logo or something.

I got 3rd. I made a huge misplay in T4 in G1 that really hurt me, and then I went on to just completely unplayable/hand prizes in G2. I plan to write a report with my list. I started to write it, but haven't gotten the chance to finish it. I hope to do so sometime today.

I went 2-0 with an Arceus deck that I built from my son's league deck. Then I lost a close one to Andrew Mishik who also beat me in Nats swiss. Then another loss due to bad prizes so 2-2. By then the kiddos were restless as was hubby so I dropped. Had a blast though!

Heh, having overslept by a hour (woke up at 8:50ish am) I got ready and down there at 9:15, and I was checked into the tournament with no problem. I was relieved. (I didn't get to bed until like 4am because I was helping judge the mutant draft; which was awesome btw)

Despite getting a bye rd6 (I tried to appeal the bye, but they wouldn't met me); I got last place WOOT! :thumb:
It was so much fun I have to say, and I can't wait til next year!

I got 4-3 for the day. 2 of my losses were due to prizes and probably misplays. I played a Speed Jumpluff build that really worked well, when Jumpluffs weren't prized...had a great time and met some really cool people.
