Old news :p. Still excited though. And playable too. We haven't had a playable league Promo since DCE and without looking I can not name something before that.

Yeah, we knew "Chespin Promo Skyla" but no other specifics.

More info: a player can earn up to 2 of these cards for the first two rows of their League card. The third row earns them an online code card, and the fourth row earns them a keychain charm with Chespin on it (I believe, those haven't arrived yet).

Yeah, and I think this is a cool way to balance things. Though I may have put the code card second or first. Many people in our area don't want the code cards, so making them plow through them to get the physical goods might be a better strategy.

Before I found the instructions, I also would have guessed the code card was first (in terms of increasing value).

So I suppose this as a good example of giving the players what they want. :)

I like the different rewards for different rows on the card. I always get new players being confused that they just get a load of the same stuff all season. Plus, the two-per-player limit should be enough that anybody can get them, but not enough to totally wreck the value. Something besides codes would have been great no matter what, though.

I have a league challenge question, from a newbie to the game (Not in playing the game). Is there a limit of how many rows you may fill up per league challenge? And can I just enter some random league challenge and join it it, with no experience?

League Challenge is a tournament which will have no effect on your League tracking sheet. You can attend any League Challenge as long as there is room.

Where is this stated? I checked, didn't see anything on the League scorecard. Didn't get a "How to Run a Pokemon League" document. Is there one on the website (forgot to check tonight)?

Getting a playable supporter is a step in the right direction. While I don't expect EX to be given away as promos, I do expect some decent rares from time to time like Garbodor (ability), Suicune or Masquerain.

Hate to sound cynical but could this be a sign of the game being on the decline? why else would they start giving more stuff away that costs them more money?

I get the feeling they felt not having actual league prizes was hurting the game significantly. (And from what I've seen, it WAS to a point.) The added expense (which probably isn't THAT much more in the scheme of things) is probably less of a problem than the lack of promos was.

Oh, and StormFront, Masquerain would make for a terrible league promo. It's a very specialized card, and league promos should really be aimed primarily at the less experienced players. (Cards that do both, especially Trainers, can work for both newer players AND older ones.) If I had to pick Pokemon (rather than Trainers/energy) to give as league promos, I would likely go for cards like Reshiram and Zekrom that are good and have some competitive worth, but still simple enough for a young kid to grasp. (Hmm, in hindsight, not sure Reshiram fits that.)

I don't think it means that the game is on the decline. You have to remember one thing about this year: we don't have a new badge case. Someone at TPCI last year specifically mentioned that we didn't get actual promo cards due to the high cost of badge cases. Since they aren't offering them this year (just last year's that "could" be extras that are already made), they seem to have the budget again for real cards.
