My friends and I were looking at cards we may be getting soon and happened upon this one. It's second attack does 40 base damage and reads "During your next turn this attack does 40 more damage." I took it as meaning that the first attack would do 40, the second would do 80, the third would do 120 and so on. My friends insisted the max damage the attack could receive would be 80. I would think that if the attack was meant to increase the moves base damage to 80 it would clearly say so. However it just says it does 40 more damage so I was curious if that meant the effect stacked. If you do 80 damage and the attacks effect says that the next turn the move will do 40 more damage then it stands to reason your total attack will be 120. If you kind folks could give some insight into the situation that would be great.

When it reads '40 more', you play it as 40 extra from the base damage. It would be cool, but it doesn't rule that way.

I think the card is once you use the attack the first time, it does 40. When you you it the second time, it does 80. When you use it the third time and any other time after that, it does 80.

It's the same as "extra punch" metagross, the rules team has confirmed that ruling, so if the text is worded the same, then yes, 40,80,80,80,etc

ya, basically read it like this, "does 40 more damage" 40 more damage than what?, the base damage.

40, 80, 80, 80 is correct, but if you miss an attack, then it drops back to 40
