I havent played in a while in now a good time to get into it?Im not really interested in playing the real life game but I want to play the online game.Is the only way to get boosters in game to buy the packs in real life?if so where is a good place to purchase codes? Also how long until they add tornament play?

There are 2 ways to get cards besides using code cards, however you can only trade cards that have been obtained by code cards. In the game, you have different theme decks. If you win 12 matches with a deck in Trainer Challenge (the single-player mode), you unlock a random Modified-legal booster pack. Also, every time you log in daily or win a game, you get tokens. You can spend those tokens in the Shop to buy theme decks and packs (theme decks cost 500, 5-card packs cost 95, and Legendary Treasure pack [which are standard 10 card packs] cost 195).

Just to clarify you only get packs from 12 theme deck wins by using theme decks you have purchased. The basic Black & White decks won't give you a booster. You can also get packs by getting 30,000+ points (4-star rank) against the trainers in the Trainer Challenge. When you 4-star every trainer in a league you get 3 additional packs.

TrollAndToad and Professor-Oak are good places to buy codes. Prof-Oak sends the codes to your email whereas TrollAdToad sends the code cards through the mail to your house.

You play on Expert level, until you get 30,000 points for each trainer.
You have to do so for all three leagues (Silver, Gold & City Championship).
Doing it on Expert cuts the time this takes by a lot.
Since you have to play at least 10 games & win to do it.
Obviously you want to play the theme decks that their Pokemon are weak against.

Even on Expert level, the computer still makes some rather silly plays.

BTW maybe it's just because I did the 12 win thing with each deck already, but it seems that option is no longer available for some of the older decks.
In other words it doesn't show the number of wins needed for a booster.
