Question about Machamp (Stormfront)

Machamp's attack:

"Take Out 40

If the Defending Pokémon isn't an Evolved Pokémon, that Pokémon is Knocked Out instead of damaged by this attack."

If this attack were to be used on a Lv.X, does it still apply? or would it just do 40 damage? (since lv.x doesn't technically count as an evolution)

Would it apply to these scenarios? :

1. The Lv.X is a level-up of a Stage 1/2 Pokemon (ex. Gengar Lv.X)
2. The Lv.X is a level-up of a Basic Pokemon (ex. SP Pokemon [ Blaziken FB Lv.X] )

I'm assuming it would only do 40 damage in scenario 1, but I'm not sure about scenario 2.

Can anyone help?

1. Take Out would only do the 40 damage
2. Take Out would KO the UNEVOLVED Lv.X pokemon

Leveling-up doesn't count as evolving, so Take Out would 'take out' the unevolved Lv.X pokemon
